Yay or nay - bamboo husks?

We have dear friends coming for the weekend, and they've got some bamboo husks that fall from the plentiful bamboo plants at their home that they're wondering whether to bring down for the cows.

I know cows are not pandas...but can they/should they eat bamboo husks?? If not, I want to be sure to tell them so I don't end up with another pile of stuff in my non-functioning compost pile!

hmmm... i have never herd of anyone having problems with that, but then again i have never herd of anyone feeding there cows bamboo!
