Where in East Texas? I'm from Tyler and have family there, in Lindale, Lufkin, Huntington, Dallas.. and our family cemetery is in Marshall!

Howdy neighbor! I’m 20 miles from Lufkin, near Apple Springs, in Trinity county. Moved here from Lindale in February 2022, bought this farm in July 2022. I lived in Huntington in my mid 20’s. Lived in Longview and near Gilmer. Lived some 30 years in Livingston. Yup, I’m an EAST TEXAS GAL!!

Hi everyone, I'm Suzanne, aka Zan (or just Z).
I'm so glad I found this community! I think I'm probably a stereotype - city girl who's always dreamed of living off the land, but has NO idea what that actually looks like.

My husband and I left Atlanta and moved onto a 5 1/2 acre homestead in the SW mountains of North Carolina in the fall of 2023, and after a year of raising chickens and ducks (and a mostly failed garden), we've landed head-first into goats.
We've started out with six - 2 bucklings and 4 doelings, all between 2 1/2 - 4 months old.

In the 6 short weeks we've had them, I've had to learn things I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd need to know, but the most important things I've learned are humility and the importance of community, and that's how I found my way here.

I garden and have bantam chickens. I am planning on getting goats and another dog once I retire, probably later this year.
