Oh.... most of the swamp/ lake drained out of the goose pen and coop.....
I just put bits of wood slabs underneath where I wanted the nests to go, to keep the damp from the ground from creeping up... and then hay.
I have put in more nests.... but ...
No other goose is trying to go broody ... stupid... this breed is supposed to go broody... I will have to give them a lecture, go broody, be a good mom, or you will be eaten. :old
And the muscovy do have other nesting spots... but only 3 are broody...
Ok.... so WHY don't I note it down the first day I notice?
Because I think that maybe they are just laying, not brooding....
And then I forget.... blah, blah..
Anyway... so some time between the 2nd and 3rd week of April, ONE goose and 3 muscovy started brooding.
I couldn't figure out how to put a gallon of blood in the envelope... and I considered putting in the right arm they clearly wanted.. but I like having 2 arms....
So I went with the hefty check the feds say I need to send....
One more set of taxes that I must mail tomorrow.... then maybe I...
If you want it really nice, that I would say spend the big bucks and send it in. Ask the people who will prep it for you how they want the hide.
My kids experimented with all kinds of tanning, and the results were OK, but not professional. Their taxidermy weasel is great... but then again...
