    Hello From Louisiana

I have also been using Coppertox when I notice it. Again, I will check the hoof soon and update y'all on that. If it is still bad, I will try the LA200-LA300.

    Hello From Louisiana

Great! Ever have hoof rot problems with your sheep? If so, how do you treat it? My biggest, healthiest ewe has a history of problems with her feet. I often use Iodine but never checked to see if it works since then. I am planning to next week when the weather in my area calms down.

    Hello From Louisiana

Awesome! Nice to meey somebody with Painted Deserts. I never see many people with them. May I ask about how much pasture land you offer to that many sheep? Do they always stay in one herd or do they sometimes scatter out? How much do you feed them if any? I'm just trying to get ideas for my...

    Hello From Louisiana

Those are rules I always refer to friends. They were the first ones i learned as I was unaware of that a few years ago with my first ram that's now a pest to me. After this spring and winter breeding season he's probably going to a new home or in the freezer! Thanks for the reminder.

    Coffee anyone ?

You must have caught what hit me two nights ago. I got like 1 1/2 " but I think a little more North Louisiana they received around 4"! I already got my corn and potatoes planted a few weeks ago, they enjoyed the shower!

    Breeding Plans for Market Lambs

I build Pallet Palaces for my animals too! I even call them that!! I also use cow/hog panels. My ram was able to push down the then weakly set cow panel. I think because he smells ewes ready to breed. So maybe that could be an early fall lambing if i put him with them?

    Coffee anyone ?

I used to have a hundred chickens wandering in my 2 acre pasture. Eventually minks and coons kept attacking and I ended up selling a lot of what was left. I still have some barnyard mix, white leghorns, and dark cornish bantams I can work with. It was tragic.. But, "a coon can't kill a...

    Coffee anyone ?

Good Morning with espresso coffee! The thunder woke me up outside and had to check on the sheep around 2:30 a.m to make sure they went in their shed (with the little babies)! Stormy morning!:caf Long story short, sheep are simply dumb but they always fall for food. I came in soaking wet!

    Breeding Plans for Market Lambs

I thought Katahdins were non-seasonal? My Katahdin ewes and Barbados Blackbelly ram were all together last fall-winter and got the first lamb a couple of weeks ago.

Watering nipples...anyone have them for sheep?

I like buckets. Simple and obvious. However, unlike myself, some people probably can't stay with the flock all day, as buckets in summer time need to be filled often.. The nipple waterer with cup could probably work with the cup attatched and practice. 20-galon lick tubs also work! :thumbsup

    Young Lamb Feed Consumption

Thanks! I will research on those diseases/defections you just listed. Yes, I haven't given her anymore milk replacer and wasn't planning on it. As for feed, I give her 1/3 rice, 1/3 sweet feed, 1/3 sheep pellet, just like the other sheep. She stays with the other sheep currently (she's only in a...

Ram seems to be getting aggressive.

My true Barbados Blackbelly ram is three years old and is a pest to me. Sometimes i have to just walk around with a piece of metal pipe and he sometimes backs off. If he tries to start playing rouch, i pop him on the nose and he leaves. NEVER HIT HIM ON THE FORE-HEAD AND DO NOT TURN YOU BACK ON...
