Say you did buy show quality rabbits. How do you determine what quality THEIR offspring is? I assume that not ALL of their babies will be considered show quality or even good breeding quality, but how do you know the difference?
I have read that feeding fruits and/or veggies every day is bad for a rabbit, but then I have also read that it's very good for them to have the fruits and veggies every day. How often do you give fruits and/or veggies?
My kids named all of our current rabbits. We have a lop named Floppy, a Lionhead named Sox, and an unknown breed named Apple. Our buck that got out was a Lionhead named Cinnamon. I have picked 2 kits from our current Lionhead litter to keep, but I have yet to name them. How do you come up...
Scratch that last question...after some more reading on my own this morning, I'm thinking a Himi would be my best choice. (But someone please correct me if I'm wrong!)
These babies are only 2 weeks old, and I'm just learning how to sex them as well, but right now I am fairly confident in saying that my sable point is female, and my tort is male.
I admit it....I don't understand all the genetics links. It gives me a headache trying to figure it all out. Lol! After much discussion with my husband today, I have decided to keep 2 babies out of our current Lionhead litter, a sable point and a black tort. I do intend to breed these babies...
Any guesses as to what breed this rabbit is?
And here is her surprise litter that was just born on Friday. Daddy was a Lionhead.
And last, here are some pics of my baby Lionheads. They are 2 weeks old today!
Yes...not sure where the sable points came from though because their mommy is black, and their daddy was a tort! I'm planning on keeping the sable point in the back in that pic. :) Considering keeping the tort too...we lost our buck (daddy of this litter) on Wednesday, and he looks just like...
I went to take my dog out at 5 AM Wed. morning before heading out on a trip to Washington DC. When I went out there were 3 dogs underneath my rabbit cages. I chased them away from my yard before going in to shower and prepare to leave because I had to meet our bus at 6:30. I should have...
I'm pretty new here too but wanted to say welcome! I have always wanted a farm but live in town. I just recently took on the hobby of raising rabbits (as pets, not food) though. :)
Yay!!!!!! Congrats on the new babies!!! :) What kind of rabbit do you have? I'm definitely not experienced in this, but I would think if you have a larger breed rabbit the kits would naturally be a decent size.
Well, I got a call from someone else interested in the same bunny just a little bit ago, and she said she could be here within an hour to pick up, so I told her they could have it. (It's a friend, and definitely someone I trust to take care of the baby, so that makes it even better!)
If someone says they want one of your babies, how long do you give them to pick it up before offering it to the next person interested in buying? I think I have a buyer wanting to back out of the sale but not wanting to tell me. She was supposed to be here more than 3 hours ago to pick up a...
