    The deal with GI stasis

I recently joined a house rabbit forum to get more ideas for toys/treats and stuff, and GI stasis seems to be the most common thread topic ever. What is really the deal with stasis? Apparently the causes are lack of exercise and not enough hay, or an alfalfa based pellet. My rabbits live in...

A Few Bunny Questions (Behavior/Fun For Them)

When a rabbit is really scared, you will know. It will flatten up against the ground, bug out its eyes, and just look completely terrified. The behavior you're describing just sounds like normal prey animal behavior; when they hear loud noises, they may also stand up on their back feet to see...

    New Bunny Mommy

Yeah, Boomer has quite a few good years. Does are harder to breed that old, so it is a good thing that the older one is the buck.

    New Bunny Mommy

Its good that Boomer it the buck. Breeding does over 3 years, especially for the first time, can be very risky.

    New Bunny Mommy

They are both SO ADORABLE!!! The tricolored one is absolutely stunning! What are you breeding for? Here's a great website (in English lol) with a ton of bunny stuff : https://www.raising-rabbits.com/ I'm assuming Boomer is the buck?

    Wheat fodder

I don't feed wheat fodder, but I wouldn't recommend washing it off with recycled water unless you want sick rabbits.

Help! My doe rejected her babies! Alive or not? *****GRAPHIC IMAGES*****

The kits may have died during gestation, and she finally gave birth. Check her for any more retained fetuses; they can kill if they are stuck for too long.

    Pedigree Software

I've heard that Evans software is pretty good, but it costs money. I make my own using an Excel spreadsheet. That way, I can have the pedigrees include whatever I want and leave out whatever seems useless.

    Welcome Back To Me!

Dutch colors are fun. You could get a ton of colors from what you have. Do you happen to have papers for them? I bought steels, bred the, and got a couple blacks. So steel may be a possibility.

    Welcome Back To Me!

Where did you find Harlequins? They seem to be a rare breed, but man are they pretty!! Dutch are great rabbits. They are calm for their size and make amazing dams. I've gone Dutch crazy, so I'm probably a biased source. What varieties did you get?

    What color to breed to?

Breeding her to a checkered giant might give you big babies with cool colors

    Good breed for 4-h

Smaller breeds can make good meat rabbits, like Dutch, Florida Whites, Mini rex, and mini satin. A good meat breed has a compact body shape and breeds well (takes care of kits, has good litter size), and all these breeds fit the bill. Warning on the Dutch: if your daughter wants to show them...

    Walk in type rabbit cage

Breeding them may be a problem if they are in the same living space. If you take the dam out, you risk breaking the bond; if you leave her in to kindle and raise the kits there, the 2 other does may not react well. Rabbits are very territorial and sometimes unpredictable. They may all live...

    Walk in type rabbit cage

Your setup sounds awesome. The bunnies will be happy. That sounds big enough for 3 normal sized rabbits, but not a giant. Bonding rabbits is a pain. It can take weeks, maybe months if they are very hostile towards each other. They will need to be introduced on neutral territory, and be allowed...

    Newspapers as bedding

Good. I've looked them up, and they are so much cheaper than hay.

    Newspapers as bedding

Right now, I'm using hay and old towels as bedding. It can get to 20 below (without windchill) where I live, which makes the wire on the cages disgustingly cold; in the winter, I pretty much cover the bottoms of the cages with cardboard and bedding (so much wasted hay :hit). Love the corncob...

    Newspapers as bedding

Thought so. I've seen some ideas on like pinterest (what a reliable source, right?) involving newspaper in rabbit toys, si figured I'd ask.

    Newspapers as bedding

I have heard of people using newspapers as bedding/toys for their rabbits, but is it actually safe for them to ingest? If I give it to them they will eat it/chew it to pieces, so I want to be sure its completely safe first.

    Separating rabbits

If you can step over it, they can jump over it. Three or four feet will keep them separate.
