    Newbie goat mom with questions

I'm going to tag some people so they can chime in- @OneFineAcre , @Southern by choice ... Maybe they can tag some more too. I would say she looks pregnant and February would mean sometime this month. That's a pretty big window of possibility. You can feel the ligaments soften when she is...

This year, I have sold two doelings, retained two doelings. I have two does in milk for sale to make room for the retained doelings. AND I have seven bucklings for sale that have not even had one inquiry! Too many goats. This article addresses some of the issues I am facing-...

One Fine Acre - 2023 4H Steer Project Update

SO glad everyone is safe home. I was wondering if there were any discussion of having a cap on entries or an extra day for larger competitions or a set closing time? It is hard on the competitors, human and animal....

It's good to ask if they've tested for Johnes, CAE (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis), CL (Caseous Lymphadenitis). It is so hard to find out after they come home that they have a communicable disease that could have been avoided. Maybe they have the lab reports or a vet statement.

Boy, that was one big class! Something like 75? I couldn't even stay up to see the conclusion after midnight. It's a tough year to compete if you're a Nigerian Dwarf.

    We did it...

I don't think there's a good statistic as to where Lyme is or isn't. Two of my daughters got Lyme at two separate times in North Carolina when they hadn't acknowledged its presence. The doctor told me for one that "I tell you right now over the phone that it isn't Lyme because we don't have...

I follow the NCSU Cooperative Extension fb page and find it often has interesting articles. Not always so dairy goat apropos, but fun if you have the time. I enjoyed this video on a new breed of Australian sheep. One item of interest- they use drones to herd them most of the distance where...
