welp Wednesday I got precisely 0 zilch nada done. I decided to take a day to rest and I did and it was super lol. So yesterday I had appointments all day from a physical to fingerprinting and paperwork which took longer than needed but I got it done... I spent the rest of the day in the garden...
the people we are getting our Oberhaslis from said they should be weaned by Saturday... they are still giving a bottle a day... I'm over here like yeah lets get that taken care of because I honestly don't want to hear more yelling then what they will do when we first bring em home lol
man, you guys are BUSY... I'm tired thinking about it lol... Moving pigs and piglets would be interesting to say the least... pig boards a must I would assume... crossing fingers for you guys to get the news you're looking for
By the bushel not so much... we do have farm stands but unfortunately they try to really drive up the price due to being in closer proximity to nyc and they really promote "farm fresh" the store bought stuff is fine but just fine lol
beautiful goats.... I was on the fence on either Oberhasli or Toggenburgs and decided on Oberhasli just because a really reputable breeder had a doeling and buckling (wether) for sale in my area but in the future will be getting togs. I mean come on they are gorgeous
I have never been brave enough or have enough patience for canning... maybe next year I will give it a try... my garden is lackluster this year anyways lol
I guess there really isn't much you can do to stop a pig from rooting lol I know in the future we will get some pigs for meat and I heard that guineas and mangalitsas are pretty mellow for swine :)
woof that is a lot of ducks lol... we have 6 runners and 2 mallards I can't wait for them to start laying most like late winter early spring. I'm not too worried about completion of the barn, the stall is done for the goats all I need to do is put down some straw fill the water buckets, hay...
A quick google search came up with some breeders here in the U.S. I didn't really dive that far but seems like there are some pages dedicated to the breed and the breeders but yeah not a ton it seems... I would consider them heritage I have seen them before at the state fair here in NY. I'm not...
yesterday after work I kept activities to a minimal... made sure the chickens were fed and watered the 3 mama hens were ok with their chicks and the ducks were fed and watered... I was planning on going to the hardware store to pick up plywood and 2x4s but instead decided to get everyone settled...
