Wow! Miss a few posts and puppies just seem to grow up before my eyes! They are so beautiful. Literal "warm fuzzies!" Glad to hear your son is ok! Never a dull moment, right?
This milking thing feels like a roller coaster. But last night was a good ride. Got almost 4 cups! Finally starting to get the hang of milking with both hands. Sure makes things go faster. My aim, however, can use some improvement! A LOT of improvement! Left handed I'm fine. But the far...
Last spring, when we moved out of our 5th wheel and into this place we had very little furniture. Basically just what we'd had in our camper. Our living room furniture consisted of our reclining love seat and a couple of chairs. When our kids moved in with us in November we brought our love...
OFA, the vet asked if we were going to be selling her milk. I said no, but our kids and grandkids would be drinking it. He said normally TB tests were done if the milk was to be sold and i said I was more concerned about my grandbabies than anyone and he laughed and said he'd go ahead and do the...
I was able to text the picture to my vet and he says that isnt the TB test site and gave me instructions on how to treat it over the weeekend. Said if it didnt look better by Monday to let him know.
I won't be able to get in touch with him until this evening. It's supposed to start snowing. I hoped if it's something I need to get meds for I could just pick up on the way home.
It looks like puss to me. But I don't know what a positive or negative TB text site is supposed to look like and I sure don't want to mess with it until I know what to do. I've tried to find pictures online. I've only seen human TB test sites. (I really feel like I'm a new mom all over again.)
Vet did TB test on our new goat Monday afternoon. I didn't see exactly where he did the test. Just know it's somewhere on the tail. Yesterday I noticed a sore spot and was worried it was the TB test site. I figured I'd have chance to ask vet when he came. I hadn't mentioned it to David yet...
I've had so much encouragement from here, FB sites and other friends. I didn't give up. Gave her bag a lovely long warm bath and massage yesterday evening and finally got about 3 3/4 cups. Decided to skip mornings and just do evening, which is what she was used to. Will see how it goes...
Can't believe TX and OK keep getting so much snow and we keep missing it. I'm totally OK with that..just saying, I grew up in southern OK and have been getting pics of grands playing in snow there while the grands here are disgruntled that their cousins have snow and they don't. The cardinals...
After yesterday morning success....absolutely no milk last night, no milk this morning. Not a drop. Bag is soft. It's like she'd been milked already. So incredibly disappointing and frustrating. :he:he:he:he
I got three cups of milk this morning!!!! :weee And Alice didn't kick over the bucket!!!! :weeeAnd I finally think I've gotten the feel for what it's supposed to feel like milking!!!!! :weeeAnd it only took an hour from getting her out of the pen to putting her back in!!!:weee Not bad for...
Finally found you!!!! It's hard to search for things on my phone and very short amount of time lately to spend time on laptop. But it was SO worth the wait!!! Puppies, chickens, goats....all the pics are awesome! I'm so happy for you! The egg story is hilarious! I'm sure I'll probably do...
Must record this experience so I can look back on it and laugh.
Yesterday we brought home Alice. Alice is a mini Nubian born "sometime last spring or summer." The seller got her as a baby "sometime last spring or summer." (She had twins apparently too early. Seller found them dead on Feb...
She had twins found dead on Feb 2. According to seller she's not even a year old yet. Was kept in pen with ND buck. Seller though she would probably have been due around now. She wasn't sure. Lots of info I'm not sure about but our vet is coming out this afternoon to give her a thorough going...
Poor thing. I can't even imagine how confused she must be. I'm sure she thinks she's been kidnapped by a band of amateur milk thieves. Like Home Alone with a goat. Sigh. I just feel bad for her. I know I didn't get her milked out so I worry that she'll be hurting tonight.
Alice is home. Yelling her head off in solitary confinement, poor thing. I hate that there wasn't another goat I could get that could come home with her, but the other two the seller had (an ND buck and a registered Oberdashi...spelling???) were not goats I want.
Will see how my first...
Yes, Finn is a house dog....because my dear husband is a big softie....which is why it is so easy to talk him into getting goats (and chickens) so it works in my favor.
