Yep, it made it. Hard to find updates in that thread, has turned into a chatfest.
I helped some more after veins had receded.
Added some coconut oil, broke some shell away, cut some membrane.
It got out by itself, but shell/membrane/chick all stuck together in a couple places so had to cut that...
Introverts social connections often happen online....now we're missing the interactions.
This too shall pass.....might pass like a large kidney stone, but it'll pass.
Had a hatching horror last night...worked out ok after an assertive assist tho.
Now have one more pip....they should really...
I've read they've worked with chickens....so do garden hoses/squirt guns.
There are some downsides, like cost and being in places where humans frequently trod.
Squirt guns, or garden hoses, would be easier...and definitely more fun for the kids or whoever. Probably need frequent application at...
Funny screen name!
OhBoy. Peafowl are very cool....and very loud.
Any poultry/fowl can be destructive.... and 'foul'.
I'd ask the owner if they'd ever approached the neighbor about keeping their birds on their property. IMO a good neighbor keeps their animals on their property.
You may have...
Well, regardless of your stance on space and ventilation in the coop,
that's where the 2 new little boys might run into the most trouble.
The existing birds might tolerate them out on the range,
where they can get/stay away from the flock,
but going into the coop at night may be a way different...
I'm hatching...day 20.... but am posting it on the other thread.
Let's see if I can link to it:

Wonders what a 'nice size' in feet by feet is for 40 birds.
Curious too if they are all free range or if you have a run/pen/etc.
Best of cLuck to yas!!......let us know how it all goes.
Something else I've noticed...
I love the 'Thread Starter' label on all the OP's posts in a thread on the old BYC.
Miss it here...and on other forums too......it's a great feature IMO.
That was my first impression too, takes time for your eyes to get used to what to look at/for and what to ignore. Keep playing with it, it gets better.
New software learning curve....like getting a sip of water out a firehose.
It's still alive this morning, whew!
Time will tell if it can get out on it's own, not going to rush it.
Say since you're right here @Sally Sunshine,
what's the best oil to use for moistening membranes?
Mineral oil, veg oil, olive oil???
Just bopping in for a cathartic purge/vent to those who will understand.
Thought it was Day 18, but it's Day 19...oops.
As I moved the eggs to the hatcher I thought I heard chirping. WTF?!?!
One egg was *stuck* to turner, it had pipped on wrong end, was peeping, and I can't get it off turner...
Thanks Nifty.
So I open my attachments in another tab to copy the url of previously upload pics:
That works ok...might even be better than paging thru the 20-50 or so pages as you had to on the old BYC.
Yeah, that what I used and this too, I'm just refreshing this with the favorite bar tab 'All watched threads' in chrome.
There was a 'desktop' version on the mobile app....not sure what that really means/meant tho. Many things to miss, some new to enjoy...once we figure them out ;)
