Could be not enough nutrition, could be lightening if she is inside or her cage is enclosed, or just that is how it will be with your doe. :idunno
However, the bright side is, although you will not get as many rabbits per kindle from her, they will grow faster to culling weight.
Made our own out of wood and wired the bottom so that it is heavy enough that they don't throw it around. As to dimensions, just be sure can be removed through the cage door.
We have a drop nesting box now. I like it much better.
I have my moments, however few. I am very glad you found the cause. Just a few hours of humidity can cause hay, straw, and even feed pellets to start up those mold spores. Some rabbits are more sensitive to mold than others, actually that is true of all animals with hay and feed. I have seen a...
I have only had one buck with the problem and mostly on one side. He had a problem when his hay would just start to get moldy and he also had a weepy eyes with ear mites...and he was the ONLY rabbit we ever had get them at all in all the 7+ years we have had rabbits, but he got them twice...
Is this the same rabbit that had the runny nose? If so, again, I would say could just be allergies. If not, weepy eyes can be caused by a lot of things: allergy, moldy hay, teeth issues, ear mites, etc.
@Erin&G I used to feed our rabbits Manna feed and it is excellent, but not organic, so when we found an organic feed sold near us we switched. You should free feed (always have feed available) a young rabbit until it is near its adult size. I feed a timothy blend--also free feed--but everyone...
It has been my experience that children do not have the chance to adapt to which they are not exposed. We started over 7 years ago when my daughter was 9 years old and she did not like the idea, but she ate the meat. Then she hit the middle school years and swore off rabbit meat altogether, (but...
Really old thread...you should ALWAYS quarantine a rabbit before it has any contact with other rabbits in your rabbitry. I quarantine 30 days and that is the last rabbit I handle before I go in an wash up. As to the rest....sorry, I am not fond of colonies so no experience, but at 12 weeks...
M Claire I was wondering about whether you were talking about an indoor or outdoor colony. Angoras on the ground outside would be even more maintenance, I would think.
@Bunnylady "Hobby" is such a gentle way to put it. I have one that acted like he was preparing for the Olympics in distance...
@Mocksincerity, what @Bunnylady said. Since you mentioned Champagnes, I raise Silver Foxes, a silvering breed, so I would say it cannot be silvering that heavy and even. It usually takes several months for the silvering to come in and it does not come in evenly, but in patches usually starting...
I don't do vegetables personally. Greens like strawberry leaves, dandelion leaves, cilantro, violet leaves, carrot greens, etc. is what I give as treats.
Some rabbits suffer with allergies or it could be dust from hay or pellets...I have a cat that has allergies, but no rabbits. You should quarantine it and others that have been in contact washing before and after handling your rabbits in case it contagious...just to be sure.
I would not stud unless I had shown and did well with him personally and then there are some OTHER things you should consider.
You really need to consider quarantining in your fee. Either you house the doe in quarantine for 30 days before breeding or you quarantine your buck for 30 days after...
This is my last (cough) cross bred kindle--as I write that I am reminded that I decided to take on a side project with my SF, so not really, but that is beside the point. So here we go....
