No, as far as I know the Oster doesn't have any adjustable covers. The blade heads are all metal and in the arena of 30-40 euros per head, so I'd definitely prefer to avoid buying a useless size.
Yes, I see what you mean. I still have much to learn about rabbit illnesses. In Europe, we hear a lot about myxomatosis and rabbit hemorrhagic fever, but it's hard to get accurate information about the other illnesses of concern.
That's a bummer! We had one REW in the litter make it past weaning only to mysteriously drop dead at 8 weeks. He was the kids' favorite. It was awful. He was so pretty and one of the two largest at birth. But becoming reacquainted with the realities of birth and death is part of why we got into...
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. I was a nervous wreck when our doe kindled at the end of January. Read way too many horror stories, but everything went fine. She waited until T-1 hour to make her nest.
Hope everything is going well for you all! Full, wriggly nests are a marvel of...
I guess we will just have to test and see how it goes. I am not too worried about diseases since the potential adoptee has only ever lived indoors and alone, but I hope that she will still be young enough to get going on the social skills learning curve.
I envy your meat operation. I would love...
Jumping in on this thread, do you think that 12 week olds are still young enough to accept a new herd mate of the same age without much fighting?
I have a neighbor who is a social worker. Their department got a rabbit for a client and then the client went AWOL and the department manager said...
They are outdoors, but in a very weather sheltered tractor-style colony. It seems to be the best setup for us right now and the rabbits really enjoy it. The girls especially look so bored and depressed when they don't have much roaming space.
In our small herd, most of the rabbits are more curious than skittish. They know us well and love to come sniff when we get in the exercise pen with them. They mostly don't run when they are petted. One little girl got lose today and when I found her out in the garden, all I needed to do was sit...
I agree with the vote for wire flooring plus a piece of wood for a resting area. Anything you can do to streamline your care chores gets a green light in my book!
Hi all, I am just learning the ropes with a family of German Angora rabbits and with the hot weather finally coming on, I need to get to work on their coats so that they'll be healthy and comfortable.
I've tried clipping with scissors and shears, but it just isn't for me. The rabbits get bored...
Yes, I see what you mean, and I should know this too, because Mama Doe still hasn't been spayed yet and she's ball of nerves all the time. She's the most flighty and unpleasant of any of them. The babies are delightful. I should take that as a sign that if I want enjoyable, easi(er)-to-manage...
Hello and thank you for your thoughts!
So it sounds like I am rolling the dice. I may get away with just investing in infrastructure, but the odds are at least as good that at some future point they'll have to be neutered even so.
Do you think it will help my chances any that the colony...
Hello, I am new here to the forum and hope that someone will be able to advise me. I would like to ask whether it is unwise to keep unneutered adult littermates of the same gender in separate colonies. My specific circumstances are that I have a pair of adult German angoras (of which the buck...
