The following is cut and pasted from a different forum. I'm not a member of that forum and don't want to sign up to just ask one question. I'd found it by doing a search on Barley feeds.
Barley is of lesser food value than wheat and maize. It has a lower protein and energy levels and tends...
So I'm processing a couple of drakes today. I need to do this as they won't really be producers and I don't need a ton of drakes. I also want to use one of them for Christmas dinner.
I have 3 welsh drakes.
2 of them look the same. The third looks very similar but has a different colored beak...
So I wanted to ask if any of you have tried both these two breeds and compared them over time?
I think its useful to ask about personal experience and what real people say, rather than what the sales people say. (Usually quite different.)
How did it compare with Californians and New Zealands...
I wanted to double check with sprouts in general on a few things that I have trouble with.
Do most seed sprouts grow most and fastest during first few days when they are submerged in water? Or when they are open to air?
I find it confusing to know how long to have them damp but in the air and...
Something kind of amazing happened today!
It was the first time I'd actually heard my rabbits make any noise.
I was sort of stunned by it. One of them was making noise probably because I put her in the pen with the buck. (Think she didn't want it.)
But it was sort of amazing to hear that...
Wow, I didn't know this!
Does that mean there are other animals that can choke on beet pulp mix stuff also? I see this stuff for sale all the time at Cal Ranch.
OK< thanks. I'll look at this again.
I felt better reading your comments. You were right.
But also one quick question... if ducks normally need 6 ounces of dry food a day, what would you assign as the fermented feed figure? (Its like 20 to 30% less right?) So does that mean in FF terms for...
So I'd been doing fermented feed recently following the guide and instructions of others.
It works very well in improving nutrition balance I believe. And the animals seem to like it more for some types.
But then I felt very discouraged when I looked into the feed barrel and see how fast its...
Is it OK to have geese and bees in the same yard and sort of together?
I'd heard people do chickens and ducks with them with not really any real issues. But wanted to check on geese also, since the family likes waterfowl.
So, I was a bit curious about silver appleyard ducks.
How well do you guys like this breed that have tried them before? Do they have some good traits that make them appealing to you?
Well part of why I brought this up...
(I should have worded this better.)
A number of people in my family including me but also my parents noticed that it was very difficult to open up the duck eggs. They were used to opening chicken eggs. And the first few times when someone tries to crack...
This is actually quite stunning what you said.
If someone has trouble with wheat, their whole life then eats wheat from countries that don't use those chemicals don't have any problems it says a lot.
Does this mean that someone like you or like people in my family that also have trouble with...
So I wanted to ask this here, though its sort of on the edge of things this group normally talks about. I do think it does relate to backyard agriculture however, so its OK for here.
I'm wondering if you think modern grains that are more genetically altered have more chance to make people sick...
Ironically a garden hoe short handled is working pretty well so far in getting ice out of buckets, as long as its not frozen too solidly. But I'm lucky its got an older solid metal blade on the end, and not flimsy China crap.
