My main point was, if you decide to 'off' your neighbor's dog, make sure you CYA. Make sure your barn is the proper distance off the property line, make sure your fencing makes code. Make sure your troughs are always clean and full, and there better not be any hard keepers in your pens. Make...
;) I don't mind disagreement, it's just my opinion on the matter...we each handle nuisance animals as we see fit - and hopefully within the limits of the law.
I just wish I could make Mother Nature pay for the dozen or so laying hens I lost over the winter to her loose, nuisance raccoon!! I...
I have had livestock ranging from 5-digit show horses to inexpensive chickens since I was 8 years old.
In ALL those years, I've only had to 'dispose' of one dog...the alpha male of a pack of feral dogs that was daily coming to my horse farm and chasing said 5-digit show horses for fun. I had...
I was thinking Mini Nubian, too, except look how small the teats are? She looks, otherwise, a LOT like my F1 Mini Nubs.
Is it the photo, or does she have a wry face??
The only bucks I won't band are the ones that have some age and 'sag' on them...the weight of the shriveling parts can cause the older, weaker scrotal attachments to tear, inviting infection and bleeding.
I've banded plenty under 1 year, that's absolutely no biggie...
NMGA is just a height registry for miniature goats. We register all our grade does with them.
Our entire original herd had horns when we bought them. And it's acceptable on Silkies. BUT - these are OLD photos of these girls, we've banded their horns off since, and plan to get new pics of...
Next up to kid will be two of our NMGA does that we bred to Merlot before he left for GA. Both are really putting on their udders.
HM Sassy, who can be due 5/31 and into June.
And also HM Emma, our Mini Silkie, who is probably due 6/23.
Of course I'm hoping for blue eyes and moonspots =)...
IMO it's a bad idea. By force feeding bicarb daily, you can interfere with the baseline acidity of the stomachs...which can cause problems when you 'forget' the bicarb or when you actually NEED it, it won't be enough.
But then I'm also very much against offering it free choice to adults, for...
None retained here, too many reservations to fill...and I'm waiting on a couple other does bred to Flame to retain off of, not to mention some other breedings we're excited about.
You're not going to find the exact origins of EITHER breed because BOTH "breeds" came from West Africa as a general import. As mentioned, it was only in the past 40-60 years that the TYPES were separated and made into BREEDS. Of course the foundation stock won't be the same.
I agree with Roll.
Also, bear in mind, IF she has lungworm...it takes a little while for the cough to completely go away. The inflammation of the lungs takes a bit to heal.
