This little guy was in the package deal we just inherited. We have offered him for sale as a buckling with no takers so wanting to get rid of his snarglies for ease of housing. Is he too old to band. He was born just before Christmas. His testicles are approx the size of the calf I banded so will fit if I stretch the band barely if I do it very soon. He has had a CDT does he need a second before banding if that is possible. I also have on hand tetanus antitoxin. A little nervous because of his testicle size. Please advise.

The only bucks I won't band are the ones that have some age and 'sag' on them...the weight of the shriveling parts can cause the older, weaker scrotal attachments to tear, inviting infection and bleeding.

I've banded plenty under 1 year, that's absolutely no biggie...

Our little fellow "thingys" barely fit into the ring castrator. Oh my I had to push one testicle in and wedgy the other in afterwards, almost a bit too big to fit. BUT, tada!!!! He is banded, and walking a bit funny. He was so mad we also did his feet while we had him down. The looks he gave us after were awful. Oh well, figure he will be a very tiny cute pet for someone and chances for rehoming him as a pet will probably be higher. We'll look again after he heals some for a new home for him. I don't want to send him off as is incase he develops any issues because he is very big down there.
