Hello, everyone. I am in trouble again.

    Calves for $1?

The CWD is not in our county, yet. But it is close. Every year we see about 8 deer plus 3-4 littler ones. It seems to be always the same number. We know where they sleep. We have a creek on 2 sides of 40 acres. That is surrounded by soybean, corn, or wheat fields. We hardly ever go to the back...

    Weaned Goats Stealing Milk

One of my mama's let her 1 year old nurse even after having more kids. 1 year old was pregnant as well. It did not stop until the yearling went into kidding stall to give birth. Her mama finally dried up after separation from her yearlong and her other kids were sold.

    Picky goats...imagine that...

I feed my goats bermuda. Mixed grasses from the fields and saved grass clippings. When they are pregnant I feed a mixture of goat pellets, alfalfa/oat pellets, sweet feed, and a little or either wheat, corn, or whole oats. But only 1 or 2 cups twice a day. This year I got 4 sets of twins and 1...

    Goat coughing

Does your shelter have adequate ventilation? The build-up of ammonia from the urine and manure can cause respiratory distress. Also what are you using for bedding? Certain types of bedding can cause coughing. Dusty bedding, bedding with very fine shavings, strong smelling beeding.

    Buck Winter Housing

What kind of goats do you have? Do you milk them? The only time a bucks over causes any trouble is if you are milking your girls because then it can make the milk smell and have an off taste. If you are not milking then the only problem would be making sure he doesn't year everything down trying...

    Calves for $1?

besides too much sleeping, now everyone has to worry about CWD in deer. We are planning to plant field peas and turnips for the feed on our farm to keep them from leaving the area. Maybe if we can keep them away from the areas where there is CWD then maybe they will be ok. We don't even eat them...

    Your Checklist for Kidding Prep?

Have you read about how to check the ligaments? My Peanut had a due date of October 28. Today her udder was bigger than yesterday. I checked her ligaments and they were small. After I put everyone in the night pen I noticed her some times looking off in space. I started checking every couple...

They are both looking so great! Do you remember me telling how my Peanut had two stillborn doelings earlier this year and took it pretty hard? Then she started nursing from her mama. Well she was still nursing from her yesterday. Lol. It is so weird. She is over a year old. Anyway I had bred her...
