    Is this inbreeding?

So, I bought a mini mancha doe and sometime later a mini mancha buck from the same breeder. I asked at the time if they were related (just wanted to make sure would be OK to breed them together), he said yes they are related, but it will be OK. I took his word for it since he's been doing this...

Is Cupcake Pregnant? "Pooch test" pics!

Thanks DonnaBelle, I hope she is, I'm just so worried about getting closer to her due date and realizing I've been waiting all this time and she's not even pregnant, that would be so disappointing. This is as bad as waiting for my first set of chickens to lay their first eggs. The whole...

Is Cupcake Pregnant? "Pooch test" pics!

I don't have any before pooch pictures, but this is Cupcake (four year old Mini Mancha), She was supposed to have been bred around New Years. I know I can't completely go off of this, but she has become much rounder since I got her. Here she in when I got her the end of 1/24. She is on the...

Moving the goats to the chicken building...Q's

My goats share a run with my chickens, and I think a lot of people do this, so I don't think it's a big deal.

    Supplement for a better coat?

OK, thanks everyone. They do have free choice minerals all the time. I don't have the equipment to check for worms myself, but I am wanting to start them on Molly's worming herbals, just for prevention and overall health (from what I've read it works well). Here in Arizona it is...

    Supplement for a better coat?

OK, I have a four year old mini manchi whom I think is about 9 weeks pregnant. I'm new to goats, but to me her coat looks awful. It looks very dull and it her hairs don't look healthy, kind of like she has split ends, and her skin in very dry. Is she lacking something in her diet. Is there...

    Discharge

The discharge isn't clear or drippy, it's yellowish and thick. Well, she was supposed to have been bred around 1/8/10 (very approximate). The thing that makes me confused re: infection is that she had something similar around three weeks ago. At that time I wasn't sure what to think either...

    Discharge

Well, I just spoke with the breeder that these goats were bought from. He thinks it is an infection since she is showing no other signs of being in heat besides the vaginal discharge and swelling( I have recently noticed). He might be able to take a look at her tomorrow to see what he thinks.

    Discharge

I have an 11 month old mini mancha that I was hoping was pregnant, I've been watcning for signs of heat. Yesterday I noticed stuff clumped on her tail, no other unusual behavior. Today she has some yellowish vaginal discharge, again no unusual behavior. Does it sound like she's in heat or...

    grain when pregnant

It's just hard when you're new to goats, I'm so afraid of messing something up. I'm used to chickens, you can feed them anything!

    grain when pregnant

cmjust0, wonderful information, thank you. I feel this will help me a lot. So, basically It's OK to give grain as needed to keep them at ideal weight is what I'm getting from this.

    grain when pregnant

Thanks so much for the replies. NO, they do not free range, they are only getting what I give them. One of the goats has a very healthy looking belly, the other smaller of the two really does not have much of a belly. Should I be concerned about this. I have read a big belly is a good...

    grain when pregnant

So, I'm new to goats and have two mini manchas and they are both about 10 weeks pregnant. I have been giving them each 1/2 cup of grain (purina goat chow) a day as well as free choice grass/alfalfa hay mix and free choice minerals. I spoke with the previous owner today and she said I should...

Which cut of hay is best?

Which cut of hay is best?

The goats are one year old and three years old. Both are pregnant due in April and May. I bought these goats for milk ( and pets).

Which cut of hay is best?

I'm new to goats,I have had two mini manchas for 4 weeks now. I've read so much about goats in the last couple of months and I'm still confused about many things. The feed store told me to feed them grass and sold me bermuda. Now I'm thinking they should be eating alfalfa. Should I mix...
