Could you not possibly get the two cats to share motherhood? That way if the single isn't getting enough from it's real mom it will have a backup, but her mom still gets to be a mom.
We have one kitten that will be a week old tomarrow.
I've never had a mini gelded, but I did recently hear that sooner is often better because they can be dropped and then suck them back up when they are weaned (I read that on a miniature horse forum). Don't know if the breeder would be agreeable, but it might be best to have it done before he's...
I pick my pig up all the time, she make grunty noises, but nothing bad. I just love picking her up and giving her a big hug, plus I like the noises she makes when I sqeeze her! (sounds mean, but I promise it's not)
A cross of those two would be a miniature saanen (first generation), and it would be half way in between. (FYI dwarf is just the name, they aren't actually dwarves). Miniature dairy goats don't magically get the nigi size, they are just miniature compared to full sized dairy goats, but not quite...
I've never used replacer, so I don't comment on that. I do use whole milk and if I'm asked what to feed that is what I recommend. I figure it's one of those things where you use what works for you, but I don't bash the replacer, just don't have any experience w/ it. (I'm pretty sure you can't...
For me it varies by the kid, some need more, some need less. I feed mine starting w/ 5 feedings a day, cut that to 4 after a few weeks (again depending on the kid). My current kid is nearly 8 weeks and getting 3-4 bottles a day.
I feed as much as the kid wants to eat. That can't be done w/ a...
I do work nights, I am a night dispatcher for a trucking company, but I work from home, and can usually get things wrapped up by 2am and go to bed, but I was having some trouble w/ a driver that I didn't get taken care of til 4am, he needed a 6 am wake up call and it seemed easier to stay up til...
I'M not feeding the calf off the goat, the goats are being milked, this goat is feeding her on her own. They are not penned together, the goat can come and go. The calf is getting half and half replacer and goats milk (that we milk out and feed her).
I know some that use the letters to name, I also know some that name by the letter of the mom (if the mom's name is Star, then the kids all get S names)
I sometimes use themes (Lonestar was a Texas theme), but mostly I just give them names I like based on, color, markings, personality, etc...
Thank you! They are all fun and sweet goaties, Mocha is my keeper this year, she's already pretty spoiled. I can't have a favorite.
Lonestar is the one that feeds the calf! Still trying to get a pic of that!
Yeah, I've got a good variety going! Money is in cart training right now (yesterday was day 6), the mules will be my next project, they just turned 2 and this fall I'll start working w/ them!
I have way to many, I counted them up yesterday and it's something like 38 pets! Not counting my chickens. But I just don't know what I'd do without them, life might get really boring.
That's not my lap, that the oldest Jalon, and those two aren't twins, just close in age. There is a set of twins, they aren't identical, Ethan and Evan, Ethan is holding the football in his lap and Evan is second step down far right. They are a good bunch of boys, we were sooooo happy to finally...
These are my three, I know I've posted lots of Drama, and one of Mickey, so here they are again along w/ my cow Panda,
Can I go to bed now? Nope, still got an hour to go!
So here are pics of my herd, first 4 of the big ones,
Nellie, Star, Onyx, and Riply,
Then my 5th biggie, and my 3 nigi bucks (need new pics of them),
Grim, Dallas, Mighty, and Pheonix,
And finally the nigi does,
Chaney, Swiss, IO, Willow, Dixie, Lonestar, Nice, and Mocha,
And that's...
So while I'm in a sharing mood I thought I would post this pic of my nephews, this was a few years ago we added another nephew and a niece since then, but this is the closest pic I have of them all!
I'll just name them by age rather then who's where,
Jalon, Allen, Logan, Ethan, Evan, Trevor...
