well the farrier came and trimmed her hooves and I rode her on some nice soft sand and she did great!!! tommorrow when her feet are more sound I will take her where i normally ride and see what happens.
well.. I discovered that she has a small crack on her left foot ( if she were going counter clockwise it would be the inside one) mayb e that is bothering her....?? I will have the farrier look at it and if he says that it shouldn't be probalem then i will consider changing bits.
a twisted wire snaffel bit (nothing els has had enough pressure for my stubborn mule of a horse) the bridel fits ok...the teath floating thing is probably a good idea she hasn't had it done in a while..and she is due for her check-up. her feet seem fine other than being a little too long.
I am so glad we don't have very many people like that around here although one of my friends didn't know what a bridle was...and my cousin thought gallop was called run and trot was called skip......,
also, she needs her hoof work done. They are getting pretty gnarly looking....I don't really think that is the problem though. yes this is a pretty new problem
ps. she dosn't do this when walking just when trotting or cantering
maybe the saddle dosn't fit right....(I am using my sisters horses saddle cuz mine is too small for me)
Another thing is maybe there IS something wrong with her legs cuz I've noticed she dosn't like to trot counter clockwise ( when I am doing ground work or lunging) she never tosses her head...
well.....I fixxed most of my problems. lol. but now i have a new one. My horse keeps tossing her head and jumping about whenever i try to push her into a trot from a walk to a trot or from a trot to a canter!! I have no idea why!! I mean she used to do this sometimes but now she does almost all...
yesterday my cousin and I de-sencitized my horse to crossing water (it just rained at my house mud puddles everywere). My cousin held a hand full of grain on the other side of the pond and I clucked to my horse to cross, after going around the puddle a few times she stepped in it and walked...
I do the thing with the five foot long pole and the bag alot with my horse, she dosn't mind it any more and i am proud to say that I tied the can of bags on her again and she just walked around the arena, not scared of that anymore and I've laid down tarps to help get her used to water crossing...
And I don't mean to brag or anything but I see myself as a good rider, I can sit while a horse is bucking (maybe i should take up bronco riding lol) my horse has bolted many times when she was younger (i used to sneak out without my parents knowing and ride don't tell) and I've sat it out I've...
and Im never alone when working with my horse, my mom won't let me work her unless my Dad is home. ( my mom is deathly afraid of horses) I have a fair amount of horse expeirience since I've been riding horses since I was 4 (I just couldn't ride MY horse til I was 12) and me and my horse (Nala)...
I'm getting profecional help through my 4-h club and the logic of tying a bag of cans is so there not scared of noises coming off there back and I totaly desencitized her to noise on her back so it served its perpose ( and I was outside the pen the whole time so there + my dad was watching me so...
you sound like a pretty knowledgable person and u are right about my sister being too busy although she is coming up for a week around christamas time and shes almost finished with school.......but any how I am in 4-h and I just found out that they offer training for the horse AND the rider so i...
I have to use the wire snaffle cuz other wise she dosn't listen, we used to have a full cheek snaffle but she wouldn't listen to me so we got a harsher one. she does well with this bit with everything else and I lean back when we go down hills but she always wants too gallop down its so...
She does good with all that stuff, she usually does really good with ground work and she listens really well and she dosn't gwt scared of me when I walk behind her and she's fine when I'm actually ON her she just moves when I get on. I am pretty new to this since my parents wouldn't let me ride...
