Well, DH had his Pacemaker surgery, and it went well. He managed to keep the sling on for the full six weeks and healed up just fine. He has gone, several times, to have the Abbott PM Representative test the pacemaker and it is working perfectly.
All seemed to be going just fine, until three...
WOW! It’s hard to believe it has been five years since we lost our dear friend, Joe! DH and I still think of him often and smile. We were truly blessed to have been able to call him friend!!!
I just finished re-reading this tribute thread, and am still wiping away the tears. But I also laughed...
DH saw the Infectious Disease (ID) doctor on Tuesday, and it turns out the blood test didn‘t show any growth of Candida. YAY! So the doctor released him to have the pacemaker put in tomorrow. He still has the rash, which has actually gotten worse, but the doctor wasn’t concerned about it. He...
I’m sorry I haven’t been around lately. My dear sweet husband has been having quite a bit of trouble with his heart. On September 3rd, he passed out in church, during pastor’s sermon. Someone called 911, while Pastor prayed for him. Eventually, an ambulance came and took him to the local ER...
I have always been interested in DIY and growing my own vegetables. Sad to say, my own children aren’t interested in even trying to grow their own food. They would rather pay the high prices at expensive grocery stores. :(
We knocked off at 10:30 this morning. It was just too blamed HOT!!

64 is so far behind me I don’t even remember it!
Actually, I was 64 when we moved to our little piece of heaven, out here in the middle of nowhere! :D
I was up at 6:30 this morning and already the temperature was 79° out. I didn’t know what the temperature was when we went to church, but when we got home (at 11:30, with the heat index, it already felt like 112°! o_O Now, at 12:15, it feels like 114° :somad
Oooh!!! I am SO jealous! I grew up in Fresno, California and figs were very easy to get. I LOVE figs and have been trying to grow them since we moved here 8-1/2 years ago. The only one that grew only puts on tiny, little (one bite) figs. Two years ago, I tried starting fig trees from cuttings...
Oops! I forgot to post pictures of the asparagus rows, as they progressed:
This was taken on Monday, after I tilled (and expanded the asparagus bed). That was a huge job!!!
This is the first trench and then after I mixed in all the amendments and mounded the dirt for planting..
These are...
We are still working hard to get the garden planted. My okra seeds, from last year never came up. :hit So, I looked in my stash and found some Royal Burgundy seeds that I bought and never planted a couple years ago, and soaked them in water over night. I’m hoping these will germinate.
A week...
