    Got my hens!

Just thought I'd share some new pics. One of the hens went broody and I let her have 12 eggs. These are the results. 9 adorable little "mutts". We had issues with raccoons, and lost our beautiful white silkie roo, Elvis, and the black silkie hen, Penny. Our frizzle, Lucy, adopted the chicks.

    Agressive rooster

No prob @goatgurl47. He is actually still here. We got 4 hens, and between being occupied with them, and being handled a lot he is doing great. Knock on wood, no attacks for a few weeks. I probably jinxed myself saying this.

    underground fencing.

I'm not sure what I did different than everyone else. My goats got one shock and haven't challenged the electric since. They do occasionally find other escape routes.(jumping out the shed window?:epto be with me) But are mostly satisfied with their half acre.

    Does anyone else...

I agree, the only thing I'd add is that professionals almost always have someone testing them/certifying them. Though that does not make them an expert. I've had both my Dr. and my Vet admit they either had to go look something up, or just that they did not know. I've also seen...

Apparently they are actually clean animals. I've never had one, but I'll stick with my cats and dog.

what do you do with pot belly pigs ?

They are pets. Pigs can be trained much the same way dogs are.

NEW method to disbud a baby goat

I'm wondering if this would work for scurs. My boys have some of the tiny ones that keep popping off, the skin underneath looks like a horn bud when they fall off. It would be awesome to inject some in there and not have another issue.

We lost a kid this morning... what happened?

What kind of environment has he been in? I think going from one extreme to another- like air conditioning>hot humid can contribute to them contracting pneumonia.

We lost a kid this morning... what happened?

Could you have a necropsy done? Rapid breathing makes me think maybe he had an allergic reaction or something.

    About that "cute" little bull....

@Bossroo I would consider myself a bleeding heart. I bought a goat kid with severe infected frostbite, I have all my mom's reject chickens, all my cats and dogs have been given to me for one bad habit or another. But I also gave away my beloved aussie pup because she started being aggressive...

    Got my hens!

O cool, Thanks so much, I wasn't sure if it was just her feathers growing in or genetic. She is kind of freaky, but hopefully she'll calm.

    Got my hens!

I finally got 2 black silkie hens and a couple heinz 57 chicks. They were from my mom's, but were getting picked on. They are silkie mixed with who knows what. The hens are Dizzy (I nursed her back to health from a vit deficiency as a chick), and Penny. The red chick is Bernadette, and the...

Help! My Goat got into our barn!

I forgot, burping and farting are good, if she is doing these things she is getting the excess gas out, which is what causes bloat. Massaging her belly and throat will help move the gas out.

Help! My Goat got into our barn!

Baking soda, let her eat as much as she wants of it. Watch her for looking uncomfortable, not wanting to stand, panting. If she bloats you will see/feel her belly get fuller/harder. You can drench her with baking soda and water mix also, but I would get in contact with a vet just in case...
