We lost a lot of limbs off our willow tree, but not power so we are very thankful. We kept the chickens locked up in the coop for 2 days, I was afraid that my little silkies would get blown away. They looked very happy to get out and about this morning. :) We have a couple of hours clean up...
We feed grain in the am and pm, fresh hay and water 24/7, and they get to browse all day on pasture. :)
My husband made a welded-wire hay feeder that is attached to the inside corner of their goat shed. They seem to love it, and it reduces waste.
Rockytogg, your price is normal. Here in Michigan, goats milk soap cost the same only add 6% tax on it. I have bought it online for about the same also. In the spring, I plan on making my own, and that's about the price I was thinking to sell it at. The quality of goat's milk soap is...
:) That's what I suspected, Jingle got 3ml and the others got 2ml.
:lau
Oh my poor baby, she bawled, then went to lay in the shed and gave me the "up yours" face. I felt so bad. :hit
I find that once you start with one thing, then it's another, then all of a sudden you have a whole farm. ;) Life is good! :)
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else (except Scotland, but I have to wait for the kids to finish growing up before that happens).
I'm not sure about the goats, but I have seen my chickens devor a 2ft long gartner (sp?) snake in 60sec. flat. One grabs it, runs and all the others chase and peck and then it's gone. :)
Just gave goats injections. Awwww, poor Jingle she bawwllleeedd. :( I just keep thinking.... this is for your own good sweetie. Those hides are tough and for little goats, they sure can wiggle. Hopefully it will be easier tonight. :)
Thank you cmjust0,
I have the 18g needle, Yikes, your right it is huge!
The oldest goat is approx. 40-45lbs. Would I do 2cc or 2.5cc? I am much happier doing SQ, it seems less intimidating. The other goats are appox. 25-30lbs. same 2cc dose or a little less?
I have 4 kinder goats, they have shipping fever and the vet told me over the phone to give them 2cc each of penn-G twice a day.
Problem is I have never given an injection before. The medicine says I need to give it to them IM.
I watched a you-tube on how to do it, but I am having a hard...
Welcome Carol :D
BYH is a great place for finding information and connecting with new friends who share the same passions! Homesteading is a labor of love and so is keeping animals, Enjoy!
MCW, looking forward to it. Way go :D, can't wait to see the pics!
edited for spelling.
OMG MCW,
I just realized that I never responded. :( It's been so busy here with all the animals that I haven't been on here in a while. Yikes, I'm so sorry. Anytime in July would be great. :) I am home most days. Cherry festival is this coming week, we don't go, but we sure see the...
Wow, it's been a crazy two weeks! We went down to pick up the kinders (Thank you Lisa and Kelsee) at KinderKorner. Their farm is beautiful. They have a wonderful selection of goats and chickens. :)
Then we went to NH to visit family. We had a great time!
Here is my first try on posting...
It is a small world we live in. :D
I'm so happy to meet people with the same interest and it's even better when they live close by.
Yay! We leave in the wee hours of the morning to pick up the goats. I am so excited.
I will post pics as soon as possible.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
Pm KinderKorner. I'm not sure of your location but she's in southern Illinois. If she doesn't have any, she maybe able to find some. Also try the kinder goat association. Good Luck! :D
