Once she is healthy and her parasite load is managed, her milk could come in. I had a doe last year who developed bottle jaw shortly after kidding triplets (2survived). Once we got on top of the worm load she filled up her udder nicely.
First, let me say congratulations on your new arrivals! Is he eating well now? Do you have him inside or out? I have a bottle baby that didn't have any interruption or delay in feeding, but she was inside with us for about a week. She was very docile. As soon as she started spending more time...
Well, things have been quiet here, but I believe they're about to get interesting.
I have 2 does on deck for kidding. Of course, I have no due dates, that would be waaayyy too easy.
Tonight, my Nubian doe, Oreo, has been moaning and grunting. I felt her ligs at 10, they were gone. So my 12...
Most of my does have been super sneaky this year. Out of 4 deliveries, only one was attended. Out of the 3 that weren't, 1 went badly. I would really like to catch all the deliveries next season. My doe that lost her babies 3 weeks ago is still looking for them. I want to avoid that happening...
I must have the sneakiest does on the planet! I just got home from lunch Creek's house and found two more kids on the ground! Antelope kidded while I was gone. Twin doelings! With the addition of lickaroo's triplet doeling, we now have 6 baby girls on our place! No live bucks this year, yet.
We are done for a week or two. Next up we have Antelope, a kiko/Alpine cross that looks just like an Antelope.(I wanted to name her Rosie, but I got out voted). Also, we have Camo (she is the best at blending ever), Oreo, Dumbo, snowflake, and cupcake. Maybe in that order, maybe not. At any...
Well, it's looking like I will be up a lot through the night checking on miss buttercup. Her ligs are very soft, but still discernible. Going by that, I am not inclined to check her through the night. However, she is passing slightly more goo and her bag is noticably bigger than it was earlier...
We are officially in kid watch for buttercup. No date, but her bag is full, not quite shiny. Her ligs are very soft, last night they felt like they were completely gone, today I can barely feel them. Her lady parts are so swollen they're almost obscene, and she's passing some goo. I hope she...
We have done a mix of electrolytes and milk. Not in the same bottle, mind you. We start with electrolytes in the morning, and if the kid eagerly eats, we will do a bottle of diluted milk for the next feeding. Like maybe half water and half milk. Then, depending on how that feeding goes, and how...
We've given specto to scoury kids. It's off label for goats, but it works pretty well. We did one pump per bottle until the scouts cleared up.
I'm sure there will be naysayers about this, but I'm just sharing what has worked for us.
Oh man, that sucks. I am so sorry that you had a loss. I get the desire to sell her. I have a doe that threw the cutest doeling twins last summer. However one of them is very tiny. She looks like a mini boer if there is such a thing. there's not much of a market around here for anything other...
