Miss @Hudson and me,
We haven't heard from you in 6 months or so. Hope everything is OK.
Are you being affected by all of the flooding that is happening in the eastern part of Australia? I have forgotten in which province you are located -- seems like New South Wales, in the southeastern...
Too late! The snow all melted in one day!
As for James, I have not heard, so I assume he is doing better. We will probably go back to NE Texas at the end of this month.
Have you considered letting your pigs forage in the woods? The folks in the YouTube channel "Red Tool House" raise their pigs in the woods there, using electric fencing to keep the pigs where they should be.
sorry to go back a bit, but here is what my pasture looks like as of Mar 13, both the burned (greener) area and the unburned area
I watch a couple of YouTube channels where the creators own their own portable sawmills. I have considered getting one for myself. Have you gotten much use out...
Thanks, all, for your comments. We got home late Thursday after leaving for NE Texas Monday morning. One of Treasa's daughter contacted my Beautiful Gal to let her know how worn down Treasa was and how she needed LaQuita's help. So we left around 10 AM Monday and stayed until Thursday...
Gosh, Miss @Baymule! When you first told of the pasture fire and posted a couple of pictures, I thought that was all that was damaged. But now with all of these pictures of several pastures and a couple of trailers and a wrecked truck, that was quite a bit more "exciting"! How did the fire...
Mr. @Bruce, sir!
I have intended to ask you: it seems that you have had several winter storms come through your area. Have you gotten much snow or ice with them? Any videos of you clearing your driveway?
Senile Texas Aggie
Miss @Cecilia's-herd,
I hope the tornado that struck in Iowa wasn't near you: https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/05/weather/iowa-tornado-deaths/index.html
Miss @rachels.haven,
Even though tornado alley has shifted east and now includes the southern states such as Tennessee, still the plains states...
Thanks, everyone for your input regarding the dogs. It looks like I will be building a fence for them.
We had to make a fast trip to NE Texas Thursday .. yesterday: James had a heart attack and underwent open heart surgery. His recovery is not going well. His wife Treasa is under a good bit...
Did Big Foot Do This?
All,
I discovered a cedar tree that had broken off about 8 feet above the ground:
There was no sign of any big limb having hit the tree to cause it to break. Here a picture of another tree just outside of town with similar damage:
I have heard of trees freezing and...
Wow, Miss Messybun! You have had your load of troubles! Maybe, if you can easily do so, you can cut back on the garden or maybe your farm animals, so the stress won't be so great.
Gosh, I kind of hate to hear that! I was counting on you to be able to treat my psych issues once you...
Miss @Lizzy733,
I saw on the news today where a bull there in New Zealand got swept over a waterfall. (See https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/feb/23/bull-survives-being-swept-80km-down-a-river-over-a-waterfall-and-almost-out-to-sea ). Did that happen near you?
Everything else OK with...
Thanks, everyone, for the input. The puppies are a cross between Anatolian and Great Pyrenees. It sounds like we need to plan to have an electric fence of some kind in which to keep them so that they will not roam. Well, that will make it easier knowing that now, rather than setting them free...
Maybe you folks can provide guidance in how best to raise the dogs. I do not want 99 to get pregnant and have to deal with unwanted puppies. Until now we have kept the dogs in a shed at night and in a pen in the daytime, occasionaly taking them for a 1/2 mile walk. Once the surgeries were...
I don't know if they had to pay a bill or fine. I do know that the volunteer fire department at Sugar Grove (about 2 miles east of us) assesses a $35/year fee that is not required, but I believe that if they are called and you are not a member then you get assessed a fee. We joined the 2nd...
All,
It seems that I angered the gods again so they sent me more plumbing problems to deal with. This time the leak was near the house, where I have worked on the plumbing before, and not somewhere out in the pasture. My Beautiful Gal again insisted that I call a plumber, so I called the...
