We have the opportunity to get a pig (pot belly/ mother-reg. size boar/ father).
What size would you think the piglet will get. (Mother is 40 lbs./ Father is unknown.)
Also, what are the problems we might incur if we put the pig in the goat pen with 2 Nigerian Dwarf goats?)
New to goats. We have 6 1/2 mo. Old Nigerian Dwarf Doe and Wether who have been on various types of Hay (peanut, T&A, etc.) and Noble Goat Feed up until now.
1) Can we switch to Hay only? We don't plan on breeding/ milking the female- these are pets only. They are in the same living/ feeding...
I was wondering about sand...we use that for our chicken coop and it works GREAT! I am just having a "stink" problem with our rabbits and new goats (one wether and a doe). It's not in their houses but in the goat pen (poo/pee) and under the rabbit cage. Maybe the sand will help dry/ ammonia??
We only have 2 Nigerian Dwarf Goats (5 mos. old) ...and they live in a nice sized pen 10x32 with house 6x4 ft....
We live in Florida...and it is Winter NOW...and it still STINKS! How can I control that...I like things fairly neat and clean, as I'm sure most of us do. Do you rake and shovel...
We are picking up our 3 month old KIDS today :D!! They will be in a 24x6 penned area w/ shelter that backs up to a drainage ditch/fenced though. I am VERY concerned about poisonous plants that will grow up to/ through the fence on the backside. Should I be?? Or would fence growth be minimal...
Picking up our KIDS in an hour :D!!
Warthog- Would you say you notice any difference in your bottlefed's "tameness" toward people and your 4 month old you got?
Thank you all so much! We are picking up our pair (wether/ chosen and doeling / too choose) on Saturday from the farm!!!
The owner says the prettier doe (12 wks.) is more shy...the other (we didn't want a white one), of course, is very friendly. With your experience...would you say that at 3...
Thanks, Warthog :). Also, great advice. I can imagine (now) all those scenarios. A neighbor down the road stakes his out once in a while...but not to a tree. Not sure if it was a cinder (sp?) block or what, but it didn't look like anything much to get tangled up on. That is why I thought...
Thank you. I know we live in an agricultural residential subdivision and are allowed chickens. (Several neighbors have horses, and two neighbors have goats.) I am assuming- yes.
I have heard- no bucks. I am just trying to decide betweeen the combo of two does or a doe and a wether. We very...
Sorry for what may be a dumb question to most. We want to get 1 or 2 goats for our 7 children for Christmas this year. We live on an acre in suburbia ;) with 4 chickens/ coop, a "barn cat", and are planning to pen & stake out a goat or two.
Any master advice on what breed to get and male...
