Hum.. I can see the dullness mainly because of the strange color change..... The wavy hair has always been there. When she is wet she looks like a poodle. Has always seemed like her coat type. It drizzled a little this morning and she got damp. That made the waves come out. Would feel...
Well now I feel bad. I didn't think they looked so sickly. :(
The black one has always been a little thin in the hip on one side. I kind of contributed that to her not using her leg fully and the chronic limp she has always had. (lack of muscle) I was told the mom steps on her back leg...
Well her is coat is different from her sister & her mom. I was told she has the same coat as the Myotonic buck her mom was bred to. Her coat is VERY thick/dense and longer then the other goats. She is almost shaggy in a way.
This is going to sound stupid but how do I know she is too thin...
A few more things:
I did recently treat both goat kids for possible coccidia because of sudden onset of diarrhea. Cleared right up after a treatment of Sulmet.
This kid has also had a limp since I got her. I was told her back leg was injured right after birth. When I got her it was a...
Here are photos from today
This was the abscess site
This is her OTHER side
*Don't mind the grain all over the ground.. I normally feed them in a dish but a VERY bad adult goat knocked over the food container while I was inside getting the camera.*
Well I am very perplexed.
I have a 4 month old Nigerian Dwarf/Myotonic cross Doe. She is Black & white.
About a month ago I noticed a small abscess where she received her CDT shot. I cleaned it flushed it with a small amount of peroxide & filled with antibiotic cream. Well it healed up...
Thank you!
They are almost 4 months. They had never been wormed before when I got them. (They are actually the kids to my adult does. I purchased the adults before the breeder decided to sell the kids. LOL)
I had positive pellet goat dewormer for the adults (since we are milking them & it...
I had posted a thread about a week ago because my goats were getting diarrhea. That has since cleared up on its own (1 of my does had it and both of my kids had it for about 2 days.) I was wondering if I should still dose the kids with Sulmet just to be safe? They are about 25lb Nigerian...
Uh, well the adult doe is fine now. Never would have known anything was wrong. I was starting to believe she just overate on alfalfa. She is the dominate (Biggest one) at feeding time. I had noticed her hogging the bowls so I added 4 bowls to the pen and split up the alfalfa. I was thinking...
Well she seems a little better today... have not seen her eat or poo.... Stayed outside with her for a while last night & this morning..... no poo?? Is that good or bad?
Should I go ahead and treat everyone for coccidia just as a preventative? Or should I just treat the ones who show symptoms...
Uh, what a wasted trip! So I went over to TS. They were out of Albon & they did not have Corid or Di-methox. Person there looked at me like I was crazy asking for them. They did however have a product called Sulmet.. but it was $70 a bottle :ep
I was however able to find the Probios and...
Not sure on her temp at the moment... I was about to run out to get a thermometer for her.
It is brown with a hint of green.... kinda smelly... and like pudding... UH so gross. I gave her electrolytes in her water. She is up and moving around if I call her but not eating. Still seems a...
Ahhh I don't know what too do!
I'm outside with my goats most of the time so I noticed everything they do. I let everyone out today and they seemed fine. I was gone for 30 minutes and I come back and my adult girl has TERRIBLE RUNNY Diarrhea. I can't find anything she could have eaten...
Well we are done with the vet today.... sadly the vet would not give me any epi. :/ She was sure that I would never need it. Said she had never seen a goat have a bad reaction.... I sure was nervous when she pulled out the penicillin!!!!
Both of my kids had to get disbudded a second...
:hugs That's terrible :(
Was it from a CDT Vac? Or an antibiotic? Was it his first shot or had he had them before?
Just curious... How long after a shot are you safe? Like if they don't react in 5 minutes? 10 minutes?
$300 for an EXAM!!!!! Geeezzzzzz I so wish my normal dog/cat vet would see goats! LOL She is awesome. She knows I do most of my own meds. She always works WITH me not against me! Hum... maybe she can get me some.....
Is there a specific dosage for goats? I have Nigerians....
Okay, thanks! I SHOULD have it on hand anyways. It is that time of year for all my pets to get there shots... I just have never had a problem so I never got around to buying any... :hide
The person who told me sure made it sound common... made me a little scared!
Do they sell it at the...
