We have a calf born three weeks ago we are certain is at least partially blind. She was the last calf born of about 9 Brahman calves over the last several months. All healthy uneventful births, calves coming along fine. We happen to have the last two calves born four days apart to half...
One of my Does got sneaky today when I had to make a day trip out of town....had her twins.... We returned to find them in the barn laying there all dried off, one with a horribly swollen face and ears....the other slightly swollen face ears swollen too. I'm guessing mosquitoes or ants got them...
Had a set of twin boys(boer) born 3 days ago....actually one was born Tuesday and one Wednesday...LOL. First time I've had that happen!....ANYWAY...second boy(Lorenzo) was the bigger of the two...Mitchell was a tad smaller and weaker...neither were impressive or even pretty looking. It was early...
I think I know what I'm dealing with now and its not pretty!!
My daughter has been helping me care for this baby and while I was out earlier running a few errands...she let me know his poop turned bloody. I believe this is e coli. He has gone downhill extremely fast and I have decided to not...
Ok...gave him the soda mix with vit E....and a helping on penicillin... If he does not perk up in a bit I will tube him some electrolytes.
It does kinds sound like floppy kid.
Thanks!
Ok we have a little boy(boer mix) he was born Wednesday, so 4 days ago. Apparently his mom backed up against a fence as he was emerging as I found him on the other side of the goat turnout...only because he was screaming when I got out to my barn. His sister was born in the sack so did not...
I have a pretty good size herd of Does and have just started my kidding season. All of my goats are important but you know how it goes.....the most expensive most detrimental to your herd give you the most trouble..lol. We have been bitting our nails over this Doe...she is an older doe who...
I wrote previously on a buck that was born about a week and a half ago....yall are probably hear too much about him already...lol. Anyway he is doing very well. I had a Suprise this morning when my milk doe decided to kid out way before I thought she would. She had a single kid and right...
Alrighty.....I posted a reply to you previously and have more to add...WATCH THAT LITTLE TRICKY DEVIL!!!.......LOL...
I have been back and forth out to my barn this AM. I have a Lamancha mix doe that I knew was pregnant but only because I pregtoned her about a month ago and confirmed it. The...
I'll through a possibility out there that I would not believe completely had I not experienced it myself.... false pregnancy. I had one of my best does have a false pregnancy last year. She tested positive with my pregtone...got big, bagged up (I could squeeze milk out)had some stuff coming...
I have aFullblood boer baby born last Thursday (28th). I wrote in previously about him .....his mother is old and her milk production is questionable...not only is she old but one side of her udder is not functioning. In preparation of his birth(he was a single kid) I froze plenty of Nubian doe...
I recieved a call this morning from a friend who is a beginner and one of their does kidded out in the middle of the night in the pasture to two kids and left them. They just went out this morning at 7:30 and the Mother (who they didn't even know was pregnant had a after birth still hanging)...
I have a Doe that is actually beyond spoiled. She is 11 years old...just kidded out. We really baby her alot and I suspect she has been manipulating the situation from the start. We walk on pins and needles with her. Currently she is on goat Noble (purina), mixed with a bit of Omelene 200...
With great anticipation our "best doe we will ever own" has kidded out just yesterday morning at 3:00 am. She had a beautiful single buck kid-perfect in every way. This particular doe suffered a bout with mastitis LAST YEAR when she kidded out also with a "single buck kid-perfect in every...
I have bred with a fullblood spotted boer buck for several years...Im at about 70% spotted kids when breeding to a doe who is not spotted. Not sure how closely milking genetics are to Boer genetics....Your buck has an awsome painted spotted pattern
.
I would allow "nature to take its course" BUT she is a VERY valuable doe at my place and probably just a bit small, AND the baby would just about be useless bred to her father. I feel at this time allowing her to kid would be more of a risk than aborting the baby.
Since I have never done this...
Have several questions I need help with....first.....I have a SUPER nice doe that kidded out last October (2010)...the weather was aweful...50 today.....80 tommorow, rain everyday! @ 2 weeks the baby got pneumonia and during the next week the mother got mastitis (on one side). Baby almost fully...
