That is a shorthorn.
This is Hilda
She is also a shorthorn :).
Shorthorns are not tall, I haven't measured mine but I'm 5'2" and much taller then them.
We picked up a pair of potbellies on the weekend.
We really just got them as "working pets" for the farm but they are a boar & sow.
I read over most of the old threads here so I'm hoping I'm not going to get any emotional responses here.
The little boy seems to be trying to mate the little...
Yeah I'd definitely rather elastic then slice & snip, less risk of infection.
I think perhaps, the band was too large & that's why he's had a run-away and why the remaining testicle still feels healthy & spongy.
We'll give it a go tonight, I've got to get an elasticator since my little ram...
Last tuesday.
I have to say his remaining ball still looks quite healthy & un-shriveled. But really I wouldn't know a healthy goat ball from an unhealthy one...
Okay one of my goats definitely has had a fun-sack slip his banding. It was done by the previous owner, but I can feel the one hanging up high. I haven't had very much experience with goat balls so maybe this is normal, but based on a general animal knowledge, he's not been whethered completely...
After a bottle of electrolytes he's bounced back amazingly and is outside playing with his brother(?) and our lamb :).
I'm going to try to get a fecal from him, but this may have resolved itself during the day.
Thanks guy & I'm sure you'll hear more questions from me very soon ;)
We're new to goats & new to these goats, so please bear with me :).
I picked up 2 Saanen (formerly Billys) yesterday. The seller is a miniature breeder, with a whole host of other animals so I'm pretty sure she knows what she's doing. The smaller of the two started having diarrhoea yesterday...
