Okay one of my goats definitely has had a fun-sack slip his banding. It was done by the previous owner, but I can feel the one hanging up high. I haven't had very much experience with goat balls so maybe this is normal, but based on a general animal knowledge, he's not been whethered completely.

Do I remove the band and re-band the entire thing, or give him pig-tails?

(Anyone curious, I got a hold of the prev. owner, the goat were de-wormed before they came to me so I'm not worried about Cocci, and his poops are very healthy again. And it was shipping fever, everyone has stopped coughing and raspy breathing sounds. I need to get the vet out to do a herd-health anyway so he'll probably get a visit this week)

How long ago was the banding done? I would say remove the band and reband but someone else might have a better opinion.

I agree...but it depends on how long ago it was done.

Last tuesday.

I have to say his remaining ball still looks quite healthy & un-shriveled. But really I wouldn't know a healthy goat ball from an unhealthy one...

If it's been less than a week, I would cut the band and start over. If it hasn't started shriveling you shouldn't have a problem.

eta: this is what I would do...please consult your vet first.

If you are getting the vet out soon anyway, I would ask the vet before doing anything.
Make the vet visit sooner rather than later so you can take care of it (hopefully) the easy way.

What would be the easier way?

Cutting the band off and starting over...but once that sack starts to shrivel that may not be possible.

eta: As opposed to having to cut out the other testicle.

Yeah I'd definitely rather elastic then slice & snip, less risk of infection.

I think perhaps, the band was too large & that's why he's had a run-away and why the remaining testicle still feels healthy & spongy.

We'll give it a go tonight, I've got to get an elasticator since my little ram needs to be done anyway & we'll have other goats/lamb in the future.
(Fear not, I have an experienced sheep farmer down the road I can run too if we have a problem, this seems pretty straight forward though!)
