I have 5, 4 horn black/white and lilac/white ewes that are not registered, but could be, up for sale. I need to sell them asap. I cannot transport and buyer will need to cover vet certification if going across Michigan state lines. I have lineages of all the ewes. I would prefer to sell...
Hi guys, My doe had 4 kids this year. She got her CD/t shot 2 mo before kidding (she was 3 weeks later than we thought, ligs were gone for 3 wks!). She had not rejected any of them and I've been watching to make sure they are active and feeding.
Last night while doing chores I saw the does...
We raised several baby goats on whole vit D milk from day one ... never had any issues with scours or growing... we kept them on the bottle a bit longer till they learned to eat hay. Do you have hay in with him he can nibble on? I've heard the same thing from everyone that has used it that...
well, vet says pizzle rot... a good dose of antibiotic cream is the recommended treatment... and so far after one application, it has dried up, swelling is down and and looks much better. We'll continue treating until he's healed up.
We are working with our vet and treating a wether for urinary calculi already, but he has developed a secondary issue with what appears to be a bad yeast infection (I'm waiting for my vet to call me back). I cleaned all the crust off and made the call to shave his hair away from the area...
So cute... it's going to be a hard one to manage... I would be really curious what his mineral requirements will be.
I would pick sheep cause I think they are more docile with eachother than goats are.
Have you tried Michigan State University? They are a heavy farming institution.
good thought on the tail norseofcourse!
..
Here would be my two cents.. wait till you know what you have. sheep and goats require different food and minerals. goats need copper, copper kills sheep. it would be foolish to get one and find out you have the other.
I would also strongly...
We've named her "Tribble" as in the trouble with~ She is a sweetheart, but scared. We are quarantining her for a few weeks and shes a bit lonely. So we brought her in the house to hang out and get used to us.
Ok so I have a new baby goat. the owner said her goats came from tested herds, but had not tested hers or had any proof to support her claim. I've had my herd tested for cae/johns etc and we are clear.
The new one is only 2 months old and I have her separated from my herd. I plan to wait a...
We have a new addition! DH got her for me for our 19th anniversary! I saw this little one and fell in love with her color. I have her separated from the others until I can get her tested and checked for worms. She is 2 months old and just adorable. Have not come up with a name for her...
Has anyone seen a Nigerian this color before and do you know what the color would be called? I just picked her up yesterday. Her fur is very light grey underneath with bronzy blue brown toward the ends. Her brother was black, mother was tricolored patches of white with black and brown...
So our first year with bees was a bit of a disappointment. But, we learned some things and I'd like to share that here. Our first hive ended up dying or absconding. We learned the following year what had happened.
Here's' what happened:
We noticed after a short time, that our hive was not...
When I first got my doe she was very standoffish, couldn't even pet her. I kept the milk stand in where they were kept at night so she would be familiar with it. I would put feed in the bin on the stand but leave the stanchion open so she could move her head in and out till she felt secure...
took photo off, seems it's not working now ..
Here is the one we made for our goats, right now it's split in half for the sheep at night. You can see our fence too. The buck has made a mess of the fence between him and the girls so we've used hog panel there. Make sure you pull your fence...
Well, everything was there! We tried to salvage the paint, however it was a lost cause. Since we want to use it for food, we stripped, cleaned and repainted and re-stained the board. It takes quite a work out to get her going! Can't wait to try it out on some goat milk~
