I know I joined awhile ago...

but I never got around to this introduction forum. I live in south Texas and have horses (Thoroughbreds and warmbloods), cows (Santa Gertrudis), goats (Boer), chickens (Easter Eggers for now), dogs (Australian Cattle Dogs and Pyreneeses), and a few cats (freeloaders, mostly). My boyfriend has...

    Flemish or Checkered Giant breeders?

I'm sorry if this is a double post, but I don't see where my post from the other day got posted. I have a friend looking for a Flemish or Checkered Giant buck. We are located in south Texas and I haven't been able to find much. Any leads?

    Polled Boers?

After looking at quite a few polled goats, there is a slight difference in the skull at the point where the horns would attach. It's really difficult for me to explain, but if you see them side by side you can tell the difference.

    Charolais x Santa Gertrudis

I'm so sorry I started this thread then wandered off for over a year. Of the two gert ladies AIed, only one took, and she had a very nice bullcalf this January. Little Ricky is 8 months old now, and a neighbor kid has agreed to show him in the open shows this winter. Yeah, for some reason I...

    Polled Boers?

Wow, all of a sudden there are three listings on craigslist today for polled boers. I emailed them all; it will be interesting to see photos when they send them.

    Charolais x Santa Gertrudis

Well, I decided to go with purebred Santa Gertrudis for now to build up a herd of more than 2... the ladies went to the breeding station and I picked KR Ricardo: I think he looks yummy! :P I hope all goes well. I may breed them for a cross next year.

    Polled Boer Buck (south Texas)

Is BST forum here free? Well, I have an aged polled boer buck who will be looking for a new home after he runs with my does one more time. He is not registered, but definately high percentage and paint genetics. He is solid dark brown and tall. He was range raised and is savvy but not at all...

    Charolais x Santa Gertrudis

Yeah, I know my first perrogative should be "product", but I'm just curious about the color. I love my mahogany lady cows!

infertile heifers (added pic of our bottle baby)

Wow, if that 25 year old brindle cow is still putting babies on the ground, I would say she's a "keeper". ;)

    Charolais x Santa Gertrudis

I have a couple nice dark Santa Gertrudis cows and am considering putting a Charolais bull over them. Does anyone have photos of the color type this cross may produce?

    51 year old mule

Thank you, anyone who voted for Pete; he won! :D As far as the ruminant thing... I know they are not ruminants, but Pete sure looks like he is "chewing his cud" when he grazes because, God bless him, he just can't chew grass, so he gets a mouthful and just gums it to death until he drops gooey...

    Mini mule Qs

I have two "mini mules", one I believe to be a hinney. They are both right at 49-50". One looks to have been a nicely bred mule either out of a thoroughbred or hackney type pony mare... not "field stock" but nice enough to pull a buggy. The other of mine (the one I believe to be a hinney) is...

So, I finally broke down and got some Pyreneeses...

So, I finally broke down and got some Pyreneeses...

I've been accumulating a menagerie (currently 5 horses, 2 cows, 2 mules, 5 nannies, 2 bucks, 9 kids, 3 coops of chickens, 4 cats, and 3 dogs) over the past several years, and had decidedly not gotten a LGD because I did not want any more dogs (the heelers were enough to keep after). I keep the...

    Polled Boers?

Is polled more common in dairy breeds or certain breeds? I had read about hermaphriditism, so I was pleased that my two original polleds were fertile, and I'm curious to see how fertility plays out.

    51 year old mule

Actually, when I sent in papers to ADMS so that my son could take him in some shows, they said they had one that was 65 and worked pulling a field plow until he died. Wow... so, for Pete being a mule and a pony-cross who know how long he can totter around.
