I'm not exactly sure what the base color of your cow is-- but brown is not a color. I would say her base color is black with the wildtype being dominate and showing through, even though the wildtype color is more of a brownish in most cases.
thinner condition at breeding time is 100% of the time better for breeding than having one too fat, as is having them on the thinner side at calving opposed to too fat.
I'd try to slim her down if she was at my place.
no reason your boss can't load his tank up and take it to your house to do the AI work... or no reason you cannot load your heifer up and take her to his house to get bred.
I hauled my tank 40 miles the other day to breed 30 heifers for $15. per head, plus semen costs, which I had been storing...
for that money, it had better be half full of semen...
I've bought two used tanks in the last couple of years, and not paid that for either of them. My last tank was 5 years old, and priced to me for half what the guy paid for it-- after he found the receipts. I ended up paying $217 for it...
some people HAVE to give vaccines-- it's far more cost effective at preventing-- than it is treating or dealing with abortion outbreaks... Lets put it this way for all of you anti-medicine people-- having half of your brood ewes abort doesn't pay the bills-- nor does having every single first...
I vaccinated all my goats, brood ewes and breeding rams today with Virashield 6- abortion vaccine; Covexin 8- abortion vaccine; J-Vac- mastitis vaccine; CDT; and ivomec dewormer. Plus I gave LS50 and trimmed feet on the two or three who were limping.
They all got pinkeye vaccine a month ago...
depends on what your goal is- if you're after using the ram effect as a teaser- then you'll want them to cycle once before you turn them in... but if you're using the ram effect as a synch tool-- then you'll want to turn him in right away to work them all over good.
caution- turning bucks in...
Located in IL- have sold his three sisters already, cannot find anyone looking for a male. $250, tons of pictures available upon request... Going to be a great dog, but unfortunately, we can't keep him.
today while working ewes and goats-- give vac and deworming--- I had a thought that inspired me to come back to here to share thoughts.
I know of many operations which use a billy goat as the teaser rame on the ram effect deal. They claim they can even get non-responding, out of season ewes...
so you know the original families Huh? I'm getting my information from the truth, and figured that I'd hit up the Red Angus ass'n to back it up.

black cannot, and will not ever be co-dominate-- unless it is bred to charlois white (even though this white really doesn't exist-- as Charlois are actually recessive RED with the dilutor gene being expressed) (result in smoke) or shorthorn white which results in the roaning effect.

is this the one that talked about establishing an unrelated flock with linebreeding? and being able to use your own rams, with different sire lines?
In reference to making 4 lines of breeding animals, I think ?
