Thank-you guys, I really appreciate all your help. We switched to a different mineral and continued MTG skin treatment which has seemed to be helping. The odd warty things have disappeared and everyone's skin is clearing up thank goodness. If anyone has any skin issues, I would really recommend...
I'm really beginning we are doing something wrong, because now we have the common wart (???) going around. Not orf as it heals within two weeks. It spreads really easy, and I just don't know what to do. I don't know if our feeding is wrong or something, but goats don't normally have this many...
For lice/mites I used a oil/sulfur mix called MTG, which was highly recommended by another goat owner. This I used for about two and a half weeks straight every day on every goat. I use Manna Pro goat mineral, and I used Kaeco selenium and vitamin E oral gel. The gel was used three times, one...
No cocci or worms. We treated for lice/mites when all this first began, thinking that was our issue, but it didn't fix it. In the spring we shear all of our goats, so I can see dandruff, dark skin (unhealthy leathery), missing patches of hair on her face (base of ears, top of muzzle, above the...
For a while we had a bit of a mineral deficiency, but we were able to clear everyone up except for one. During the time she was pregnant with triplets, so she declined really quickly. It didn't effect the others nearly as bad as her, not even the other doe with humongo triplets. Only one of her...
We show club lambs every year, and I was curious as to how others build muscle. I will keep a list for future reference as well.
Walking on Halter
Bracing
Sloped Feeding Stations
We have three yearling ewes that were our 4-H club lambs last year. They will be bred this fall, and I just wanted to see the ins and outs of lambing. I've kidded goats plenty, but is it really any different?
1.) How often do they need help? (as in going in to reposition lambs) Is the position...
That would be fine as long as they get together really well. The mean streak in the momma can become more pronounced once they kid, but they sound like they get along very well.
It could be allergies. It isn't pneumonia because the discharge is yellow, never white. Another option is the common cold. A cold or allergies don't need antibiotics, but I would watch and just make sure it doesn't get worse.

Well, I think the cold water does help, but I think it will be a very slow process. Her front feet weren't near as bad, but they were a little, and now she is walking normally on those. Her back feet are still pretty bad, but I do think it helped.
Woodsie - if you are worried about her having kids out off in the pasture with the risk of your guardian, why not put her in her kidding stall? If she is close enough that is. :D
X2
A few of my goats' ligaments will begin to move and soften then come back only to go again about a week before kidding. When the ligaments are really gone, then you can actually see it, not just feel it. The area around the tail and tail head will appear sunken, and you won't be able to find...
Nothing felt hot to the touch, and her feet weren't at all overgrown, but I cut as much as possible off since the article said get it down to the pink. Sorry the side-view wouldn't load so I'll take another this afternoon.
Side-Note: as a first freshener is this udder good? I don't have to...
It had started before she kidded, and I had figured it was because of the weight of all those kids, but then it got worse a lot quicker after she kidded. Because of this I'm going to assume that this is a food based issue. I'm not sure what is wrong with it, but could you guys 'evaluate' my...
You could either try doxiemoxie's suggestion, do another gel treatment (I'm pretty sure it can be done every 10 days as a treatment), OR do the tub. Be careful about doing multiple things at once because selenium can easily be toxic if given too much. I've never had any luck with the molasses...
I know this is not normal, and she walks stiff-legged because of it. What can I do to help? What could have caused it?
Back feet:
On a side-note, this same doe just kidded recently (it was a bit of a rough one) and she has not really come out of her funk. She seems a little subdued and doesn't...
I think Mia knew just when we needed a pick-me-up! As a first freshener, I was a little worried, but she did beautifully. She kidded a single humungo buck with no issues at all. This is the end of this year's kidding season, (Phew, *wipes brow*), with three does and two bucks. :celebrate
