We got 3 - 8 week old wethers yesterday. On the way home they pushed aside their bedding and peed all over themselves. It was about 36 degrees when we got home. We toweled them off and sat with them with a space heater until they were dry. Also gave them a warm bottle of milk/water. Noticed the one goat coughing after the bottle. This has continued today and also some sneezing today with a single discharge or whitish mucous.
I have penicillin injectable and can get any other antibiotic today if needed. Should I give some and if so what kind, dose? Or just give him a couple days of sun and fresh air?

Thank you!

It could be shipping fever, caused by stress related to the move to a new environment. I'd recommend taking their temperature to see if they're running a fever. Definitely watch for signs of pneumonia - it can cause death in kids very quickly.

At that age, you should quickly do take a temp and be wary of pneumonia. It very well could be the beginnings of that/ upper respiratory infection.

My wife isn't home, so the brains in this outfit are somewhere else. :)

But my recollection is that's pretty normal? It increases during the day.

Somebody will probably say for sure

With an elevated temp, sneezing, coughing, nasal discharge, and having just moved, call a vet and ask for something stronger than penicillin---they can give them a single dose that will knock it out. Kids can succumb to a respiratory issue quickly so IMHO, it is worth the vet charge. Hope it goes well for you. No fun when little ones get sick.

Thank you everyone! Just got back from the vet. They gave him two injections (anti-inflammatory/fever reducer & antibiotic) I give him another dose in two days. Thanks for all the quick advice I really appreciate it!!!
