Oh! The other thing is the vet told the breeder up front that she wasn't sure she got it. So it wasn't like she lied or anything. So I'm not sure I have the right to ask her to do it over? I'm going to talk with the vet I work for and her husband (he's a lawyer) and get their input as well...
I thought of that too. Although I'm concerned that if she couldn't find it then will she be able to now? I don't know that I have full confidence in her! Still trying to figure this mess out.
Those pictures are very cool, thank you for sharing. I work at a small animal hospital so I'm always curious about procedures with other animals.
Well I have got more information on my little wether. I'm not sure if I should start a new thread or continue on with this one...I'll start here...
Pictures would be great! Just out of curiosity :)
I'm going to wait and see how he behaves as he matures and unless he becomes intolerable I'll leave him be. I really would hate to put him through all that if I don't have to. Just wish I knew! I wonder if an ultrasound would show it?
The breeder told me he had one undescended and the vet had to go in internally and remove the undescended testicle. So I'm pretty sure either the vet missed a portion or the procedure just wasn't done. I hate to think either is the case but he is definitely different than the other two boys. :(
It's almost a 3 hour drive to bring him back to the original vet and I don't want to put my guy through surgery plus 6 hrs traveling.
I feel so bad for him. He had to be dehorned twice and that still wasn't successful, the tips of his ears had been chewed off, plus his testicle issue. He had...
No females - just two other wethers. Who are definitely wethers :)
No beards, spraying or "blubbering" from them. He's not obnoxious by any means, just ocassionally does those "Bucky" things.
Great. Just explained everything to my hubby and he doesn't want to spend the money having surgery on our goat.
So...if our boy becomes too obnoxious and I can get my husband to agree at a later date will the urine spraying stop after another neutering or will it continue after castration?
I have a six month old male that is very "Bucky" to me. He has always been a bit shaggier and courser than our other two wethers. He has grown a beard and despite the breeder dehorning him twice and me trimming any new growth is growing horns with a blood supply in them. They are wobbly though...
My oldest daughter didn't use the wooden block correctly that we have for keeping the chicken door big enough for the 9 week old pullets to get in but keeps the goats out. Our goats 5-6 months old (3 Nigerian dwarf) wethers. I had filled the feeder with a large coffee can last night and this...
I like that idea! The feeder I currently have has raised dividers that fit the hens heads perfectly but aren't as easy for the goats to gobble up the feed in. I will get some red pepper next time I go shopping! :)
Thank you for the clarification on the banamine. I did finally see him drink and he is doing much better now. I think the banding/moving/heat was all just a bit much for him.
Hello - sorry if this is too long!
We brought home a little nigerian male yesterday. The breeder had banded him an hour or so before we picked him up. He then had a 2 1/2 hour ride in my car (he did really well in the car), and then was brought home to two other wethered males that about 3...
Thanks. Me too!
I had told me husband last fall before we got them that they were toxic and should go. So now that we had that little emergency guess what? They are all getting ripped out! :)
Basically what the title says. I have given them each about 15mls of UAA and will do so again before I go to bed and in the morning. Also gave SQ fluids since I had some on hand. I called the vet but he was rushed on a emergency farm call. We spoke briefly and I'm basically to monitor them.
My...
