This is my first dairy goat experience, her original due date was April 10th, but last month see started acting like she was in heat so I took her back to have her bred again. She is a first time mommy and from what I have read, she may have already been bred the first time and some just show heat signs when they are not in heat. Are there going to be any other signs with this first time mommy or do I just need to expect an April birth and if April passes then re-calculate the due date. I am really excited about this process but equally panicked, I have been reading all I can get my hands on but I don't think I will ever be fully prepared for birth day. Thanks to all the posts on here I already have a jump pack filled with all the things I may need on birth day!

Welcome!

I usually just play the wait and see game...but then I also have my does housed with their husbands until I see udder development, so I don't have the added problem of having to go to the buck if the breeding didn't take.

If it were me in your situation, I'd have some blood sent to BioTracking to confirm the pregnancy. They just have to be 30 days bred for the sample to be accurate. This is much more cost effective than an ultrasound. IF you really want to know if shes bred and get an estimated age on the fetus(es) you can have an ultrasound done.

I live about 40 miles from Lewiston. Yes, they are all first time mommies and they are all between the ages of 2 and 3 years old. I am really getting excited about kidding time. :)

I am north west of Boise by about 50 minutes. Sounds like you will have your hands full soon. Keep us posted!
