Cassandra has agreed to try market lambs next year so Junior FFA at school is a go! That should hook her into correct group.

Also Katahdin now designated breeding show at Houston!!! 😍😍😍 Registered Hair Breeds is Katahdin, Royal White, and Texel. Need to see requirements in open show...

I looked at the classes. I don’t think I’d have any of my registered ewes ready for show. Most are bred now to be lambing in January. No registered lambs would be old enough either. But I’ll go day of show and cheer for you!

We got there at 11:09 and we're finally checked in and set up at 1:35pm. This is first time the show has used this facility and I think it shows.

Cassandra gave Socks and both of us a bath. The heated dryer feature is a keeper. I was being hailed a hero since I tracked conduit across barn to find the breaker box and turn on circuit in our area.

The class lists have posted. Cassandra and Oreo have 2 competitors in the yearling class. Cassandra and Socks have 6 competitors in the lamb class.

Blowdry time!

So we are home. Cassandra had a ton of fun and made a friend.

She was 3rd in Junior Sheep Skill-a-thon and got a nice award. I'm unsure of actual score or how many kids competed.
She did not place in showmanship.
She showed her friends second Southdown ewe in the lamb class and pair of ewe class. The ewe didn't place which Brooklyn's mom expected.
She was last of 7 in her lamb class..

I'm annoyed about her yearling ORB class.. Judge had already decided Cassandra was last of two ewe and reaching for mike to make comments. Then the 3rd girl showed up and he put her ewe above Cassandra's. That meant Cassandra wasn't in the ORB drive. Then Dominic's sugars tanked, Alexander was threatening to throw up again, and Cassandra had her foot squished so we packed up.

Looking at online results now the Yearling and ORB overall don't show up so maybe somebody else thought it was wrong?

I think she will do better in the Registered Hair Breed classes. There were only 2 hair sheep in the ORB category here.

This royal white made 3rd place. I guess I need to go up to 18% show feed on the ones we plan on showing. It's a month and a half younger than Socks but really muscly.
