Shearing might be happening soon!
Raining for 2wks, so have to get shelter ready asap. But to feed hay, only the outside one works to feed them all without tons of wasted hay.
Will try to make another feeder in the barn, but idk if it'll work out.
Got the barn mostly set up. Need to figure out how I'll do panels inside to catch sheep, since if it is raining, shearer and sheep need to stay under cover.
Friday is shearing day!
One panel for hay, not enough. Gotta block off water night before, but still there for the rabbits.
Panel is up there because it helps the tarp stay and not get shredded.
Two panels for hay feeders now. Behind are 4 hay bales stored, going to move over several more. They go through 3+ a day. Tues, wed & thurs makes it at least 9 bales moved in for easy access.
Need to order more hay, though...
Almost time. Trying to wake up early all week. I feel sick, I'm not a morning person at all! And now I'm farther away from barn. Usually end up eating breakfast and lunch out there in between sheep moving. Another reason I wanted to downsize, I hate being scheduled in the morning!
Yearlings are being gross and a pain getting into the feeders. Ugh.
It didn't actually rain until today. Could of left them outside until last night. But sunny tomorrow! But then rain. So, can't let them out either way. Too hard to get them back in.
SO annoying! Weather changed, again. No rain. Ugh. They could of been out all freaking week long!
Gotta set up outdoor catch pen. Then I guess lock dogs out of barnyard for the night, because I won't be able to deal with the dogs in the AM. And remove hotwire to backyard, again because it's too much hassle to deal with at 7am as I freeze my bum and stumble around feeling like heck.
Gotta drag the rams all the way around to the barnyard and lock them in the catch pen. They'll be too much work to move tomorrow, especially since the bull it in the way! Then drag them away back out to their area. And of course, do it all alone.
Yeah stupid weather forecasts are more wrong than right. It’s burned me more times than I can count.
Love how you used that panel at the feed trough. Looks like a keeper. Oh gawd that first pic - Pic of the week for sure.
Sounds like you need an Obi Wan helper.
Good luck tomorrow shearing... at least with them being in they are good and dry... we got .3 inch rain out of it... but the wind was bad... tree down across road into farm and another down that skimmed the back of the barn at my nurse cow pasture... Supposed to get rain again Friday late afternoon and evening.
Rams. WallaWalla-BingBang, Magnemite & Ross.
Last sheep to go.
Happy, peeled sheeps!
Didn't have a cow, was calm and not in the way!
Fleeces to give away.
Kept Seadra fleece, a yearling and some adult fleeces. Might not keep the adult ones, will go through them better another day.
