I got this little guy last year. I know he was weaned WAY too early (the guy said he went to grain at 3 weeks) 1 guy told me he was 3 weeks old, another guy there told me he was 2 months old. I'd say closer to 3 weeks. I put him on milk replacer for 4 weeks after I brought him home. Anyway, he's a yearling now. I was told he was a Sable Saanen cross..... But, I'm just not sure. He's short, but I'm thinking that's due to he early weaning. Other than some funky hoof problems, he's very healthy.

I have a 1 year old Alpine that was not weaned early and he is pretty small for has age too. My last buck took 2-3 years to really reach his full size.

I would say that he could very well be a sable/saanen cross. I was going to guess some Alpine when I first saw his picture, but sables come in all colors too so that fits.

Nice looking boy, I like the beard.

See, I was thinking he had some Alpine too. The farm he came from was mainly Alpine and Saanen, so there's a good posibility he's got both in him. He's a great little guy, but sadly, we have to rehome him. We got flooded last month and lost a lot of our pasture land. I've put him in with my horses, and they get along great, but he keeps taking down fences to get to my does. Can't have that. He's a great pasture pal though, and made the most gorgeous kids I've ever seen with my Togg.

I'm hoping that he can go to a barn close by, and "visit" next fall when it's time to breed Daisy again. Fingers crossed. Anyway, thanks for the help! Just plain old curiosity on this one.

Hot wire :) I have a 4' fence with one hot wire on each side between my bucks and does, Works great. Lots of "drooling" near the fence line but no touching.

You have just a 4' fence with 1 wire!!!! Oh my, you lucky thing! I have a 7' fence with 3 wires (one on the outside, and 2 on the inside) and they still run amuck! I keep my hens in the same main pasture though, but I'm positive if I had just a 4 footer, they'd be over it, while laughing at me, in no time.
