Hi all, I don't have goats yet, but planning...anyway, how do you transport goats? Assuming wherever I get them doesn't deliver.

Stock trailer,

Back of a pick-up,

Back of a station wagon,

Back seat of car,

Front seat of car.....

What ever means are available for You to use will work out fine. ( unless it is a full grown. buck....might want a stock trailer then...lol.)

We brought one small goatie home riding on my lap. She was so cute and small....Then.

I suppose it depends on size; with Dwarf Nigerians, we just use a large dog cage in the back of a truck or SUV. And that's not a silly question, thinking ahead and planning are good things. :clap

I have pygmies and do the same with adults. Kids are transported on the lap of my DH in the backseat. :)

I have a mini-van and it has hauled kids (the human kind), miniature horses, goats (adults and kids),chickens, dogs, cats, bunnies, ducks, animal feed, hay, and 16 foot cattle panels on top (yes it looked very funny). So yeah, whatever you can haul them in. The only way I won't let goats leave here with buyers is if they want to put them in the trunk of a car, or the open bed of a pick-up (unless there is like a plastic dog crate that is well secured in the pick-up bed).

dog crate in whatever vehicle you have works great.

but we've had a full sized sanaan in the back seat of our pick up truck hanging her head over my shoulder.

the easiest for us is our little Ford Ranger truck, cap on, back filled with straw...and dont forget to lock the cap door so they dont get out.

ps no silly questions - ask whatever you'd like
;-)

We can fit three huge pregnant does in the back of a Ford Focus with the back seat laid down. (And tarps to catch any "accidents"!)We've got a small horse trailer also, but we use it more as a barn than to haul anything, it's a pain to deal with it. I'm looking at buying a small utility trailer and putting sides on it to haul goats. Baby kids or small goats we put in a big box in the back seat with someone next to them to hang on to them. Tiny babies usually end up in a lap though...we like to take our babies around town or wherever we are going to get them socialized and used to doing weird things since we use them for packing and carting.

I put the seats down in my suv and left a few flicks of hay in the back and put the goats back there for transport we have Nubians and they are about 100lbs so fit like two big dogs back there.

I have a large plastic dog crate that *just barely* fits in the back of my car, a hatchback wagon. It can fit one large or two small full sized goats. More than that and we have a truck cap on the back of the Ranger, the bed is filled with straw. I have hauled 8 large goats in the back of that. Before that we had a large wire dog crate in the back of the pick up.
