Do you think they will switch to 1x1 or will too many people pitch a fit? I can see wanting to clean up the teat structure but if clean 2x2s are working then I'm not seeing a huge issue with them. I do agree that the ones that are 1x1 with lots of little extra nubbies need to go, along with 3x4 or anything else strange. But a working, clean 2x2 isn't bothering me on a meat goat.

I have to wonder how the one association disallowing other association's registries is going to affect breeders...

I have a fear that AGS and ADGA are working towards the same deal due to political issues...so I'm scurrying to get all the paperwork done this year to reregister everyone in both. It would cause a real problem for some if that happened with the dairy goats.

I switched all my registered animals over to ABGA, when they gave us the chance, Now they are dual enrolled, IBGA and ABGA, I didn't now what else to do, There are a lot of ABGA farms around here, I was afraid I would loose out by not having them that way. Now it is frustrating buying animals. I have seen UsbgA animals dropping in price and AbGA animals staying steady to rising. ATleast as far as my little experience goes with it.

I saw a USBGA doe I was interested in, but what good does that do me? It is confussing to me, I can't register her ABGa, so then I have to register her one of the others, then I have part of my herd one thing, part of it another. :barnie

This would be a total nightmare. I HATE paperwork as it is and all that's going to do is make it harder on breeders.

Yep. To give you some idea...AGS to ADGA reregistrations. Last year, and for many years before, all you needed was a $1 transfer record from AGS to reregister into ADGA. This year, AGS is charging FIVE DOLLARS PER GOAT for the same record.

:somad

Luckily, ADGA hasn't hiked the rate on the actual reregistration, but BY GOLLY you better have your paperwork in order. But you do have to send the ORIGINAL AGS certs with your applications (dumb)...which always scares me, because if those are lost, it's even more $ and paperwork to get replacements.

NDGA, God love 'em...just needs a copy of one of the other certs and a purchase date.

Promise you though, if the proposed height change goes through in ADGA (don't get me started)...the reregistrations will be cut off due to the difference in standards. :idunno

I was able to dual register Bullitt ABGA and USBGA, so I can register his kids w/ either association...but w/ ABGA most of them will only be 50% on paper. Hopefully if someone wants one of his kids badly enough, that will suffice.

I have one ABGA reg. doe...the rest are USBGA.

I'm afraid the ABGA will succeed in killing the USBGA w/ this, over time. There are only 1 or 2 USBGA sanctioned shows in my area a year. Nobody around here will want to bother w/ them for long if they can't get many show points.

I have dealt w/ USBGA and *love* those people...very friendly and helpful. ABGA..not so much and a wayyy longer turn around time. More expensive, too.

Someone who's an ABGA member told me, "Well, they probably treat you that way b/c you're not a member."...well that's not going to make me want to join, now is it?

It's just political / peeing contest / bullying tactics and it honks my horn. :somad

It was 15 an animal to transfer my already IBGA registered animals to ABGA, I decided to only to do my full-bloods, since a percentage is a percentage. But I can easily see USBGA not surviving because of this and the price of their animals not being worth anything more than percentage animals would be. Especially the sire prices on USBGA animals falling, a lot. The sires wont be worth anything expect commercial sire prices. Not that I can't appreciate a good quality commercial sire, but there are alot to choose from.
