There is no common sense anymore with the way people have disassociated from practicality and common sense.
Agree 1000%. And in the cities, IF there is a family unit, they are lacking control and structure. Prices of everything unreal --store theft & waste sure adds to that. Morals have plummeted.

Farmers. Let's go there -- corporations are destroying soil, small farms can't make a profit and GMO 🤬 soils won't recover for years.

So, let's keep harping on cow farts !!! :ep

I'm with you all on the housing, farming, etc. Heck - there is absolutely no way we could buy what we have now. Crazy prices and crazy people buying -- where do they make all that $$$.
Sorry about the CA city peeps moving to AK and other places and basically destroying what we all hold near and dear.
I've often thought that farming should be taught in the schools - not the actually "this is how to _________" but just how important farming is to our country. How difficult it is - basically a 365 day a year job - with of course the battles with Mother Nature. Those are things that people have NO CLUE about.
When I was in highschool one of the teachers had a game that we all had to play. It was about farming - and how random things - rain, wind, etc effected the results. It's something I clearly remember to this day. Obviously things like that are not taught, or even mentioned. I'm sure if someone tried to teach what farming is they'd be given pink slips and shown the door. Veggies come in frozen packs, meat in plastic trays, some fresh veggies in a cooler.
I grew up in northern IL (sadly not a farm or ranch - suburbia) but farm fields were across the street. I listened to the farm report every day (I liked the farm report) and I never understood why Monsanto a chem company was always advertising on the report - well we all can guess now.

I just have to share this - my DDIL wrote this on her page:

Does Ethical Marketing Work
Do I have studies to back this up? No. Because studies are funded by companies large enough to afford them, and, in my experience, larger companies use mainstream marketing tactics and aren't interested in alternatives.
But in my 15+ years in copywriting for businesses of all types and sizes, I have found ethical marketing to be extremely effective, especially for small, service-based business owners who depend on repeat clients, word-of-mouth marketing, and long-term mutually beneficial relationships.
We're building a healthy, thriving ecosystem, which requires regenerative marketing practices, not extractive ones.

Yes. Fully. (Actually, yes on everything you said)

I was taught it was "three generations from shirt sleeves to shirt sleeves" (you started with nothing, worked hard, made money, your kids lived well, grandkids spent everything and went back to rock bottom... start the cycle over.) and it was my duty to not fall into that trap. And of course, also my duty to make sure that my kids didn't either.

I was always told that saving money was harder than making money.... you will never have as much money as you want. Force yourself to save, be frugal... live without....

But.. . Now a days.... when you hit rock bottom... it is much harder to climb back out of the hole.

All of (or at least most) of the many government handouts don't actually help long term.

And the barely making it and lower middle class pay huge taxes!

The year my son #3 went fishing... they took a QUARTER of his earnings. Because... working on a fishing boat, you get the money all at once, so it counts as a "windfall". Yeah, yeah, yeah.... I did the taxes correctly.... It shouldn't matter how he got the money, it should matter how much he made over the year! It is insane! There is no logic left in this world!

But I worry that it will get worse!

I often, (usually at tax season), look at laws and taxes in other countries. Most other countries have much higher taxes, even on lower income people.

I do not understand how people can be so blind.

So many of our country are pro- socialism/communism etc.

And yes, so many have no understanding of food...

Supposedly the world is supposed to come to an end this fall....

We shall see. :idunno

Yeah... no logic!

They go on about cow farts.... but then talk about introducing water Buffalo into areas.... and some company trying to recreate a wooly mammoth.... and then there is all the chemicals/manufacturing that is needed to make pretend meat... and of course nothing is as good as real dairy...

They are so blind because all they here is "We will GIVE you free _____________" and they never get ____________ and never remember (or admit) they never got anything.
They all want something for nothing and care not to lift a finger.

I can't understand how people think that getting something for nothing is possible. :idunno
