Truth. They used to nest in number where I lived in highschool. Road kill is their favorite. Not fish. Dead stuff is easier to catch and easier to get covered in blood while eating.

They are hated in the counties west of me... and some of us hate them here. They will carry off chickens, kill and carry off lambs. One dared me to approach the portable camper that I housed some of the free range hens in, that I used to have to sell eggs... finally after one particular bird dispatched 122 layers one summer... remember these were "free range" and the "purists" got bent out of shape when I started locking them up longer and longer periods to try to save some of them...and they would come out and watch the resident beautiful eagle.... I quit having free range hens and selling eggs...
They have decimated the sheep that used to be a HUGE part of Highland Co agriculture.... at least you can shoot the da#@ coyotes...
I have no problem with them until they decide my chickens or animals are their new preferred selection for dining... then I should be allowed to shoot the one doing the damage...
They are as big a bunch of scavengers as the buzzards... and meaner.... and you have NO RECOURSE with them... True SSS situations.
There was a $25000 reward for "whoever" shot and killed a pair out in the county west of here... no one knows anything.......
