Alpacas and llamas

Hi. I want to expand my horizons and work with alpacas and llamas but u want to know what I should expect. I work with sheep and am not afraid to get dirty. I k ow to never turn your back on an animal because any animal can hurt you. Please don’t hold back

I know alpaca. They're easy to over power, llamas are too big for that. They're unlikely to spit as much as everyone claims. The worst they can do is kick. And kick they do, hard and fast with the hinds! They can be dealt with standing on a lead or cushed/sat down with patience or just stretch them out carefully to shear. Mine learned to shear and hoof trim loosely tied to a gate. They don't like touching, ever. Even moms do not lick their babies, it's bizarre if you've come from any other animal breeding stand point, lol. If they do cush, you've over stimulated/stressed it out. Won't get up again until they chill out and feel safe.
