Ok, we just rolled over our very fat ‘mini pig’...definitely no milk line....we both felt for piglets...I felt one round harder spot...but that could’ve been her tummy? Other than that it was all blubber!! So, clearly they fibbed...ugh!! WHY do people do this??? We were gonna buy pigs anyways!!! I guess I’ll just have to watch her for the milk line, and count down from there? I don’t want to call the people...because, if I need them for referrals..I don’t want to get them upset with me...plus, I’m realllly bad at, ummmm, a confrontation? Geez, I even hate that word!! I’m such a softy!! I know, I need to toughen up, right, @farmerjan ?

So, is there a urine test for pigs, like I did for my goats?

Ok, so, as many of you know, we have dove head first into breeding America mini pigs. We bought two, already bred, from a great, very reputable farm in our area. This was last Saturday. They told us the one was due any day, she was to be in ‘piglet watch’...so, I am watching tons of YouTube videos for crash courses, etc! Nothing yet. No big deal. But, on the one video, a very experienced breeder said, that after the milk line comes in, it’s typically 20 days after for the piglets to drop. Well, Paris has quite the belly for a mini pig, so it’s been kind of hard to see if there’s a milk line? Today I got some pictures. Doesn’t look good to me. And, this makes me winder...if, they lied to me about something so simple as this...I didn’t care when they were due....what else could they have lied about ? Ugh! We have been lied to twice already about mini pigs!! Help would be much appreciated!!View attachment 70269View attachment 70270View attachment 70271View attachment 70272View attachment 70273View attachment 70274View attachment 70275
For mini pigs, to know if she's just fat or fat and pregnant you have to pay attention to her jowls under her chin. Also for mini pigs you want to see a boobie bag hanging as they walk away, its too hard to tell from the side on minis. As she walks away from you you'll see where her undercarriage ends and then a very defined BAG of boobies hanging from the back kinda like when a goat is in milk. I can go and take a picture of a couple of my minis who are bagged up right now and post it here if you like.
Also until you've had her 3 months three weeks and three days you really don't know if she was prego when you bought her. I bought a "pregnant" sow once and LITERALLY waited 3 months 3 weeks and 2 days for her to give birth!
Another way to know for sure if she's been bred and is pregnant is that she won't go into heat every 28 days like pigs should. Watch her wahoo if she's not pregnant her wahoo will swell up every 28 days and she will be trying to get to the boar with all of her might. Minis are known for the females being more sexually aggressive about mating than the males even are.

I don’t have her near the boar...we’re actually getting another one on Saturday. I have the two pregnant ones in the barn, in case they farrow. There’s no milk line. We flipped her over, felt nothing. She’s got jowls, whole bit. I’ll post some pictures of her belly, but it’s from the bottom so you can’t see anything much....
