Beautiful! If you dont mind me asking, what do you breed these ponies for? Like, are they going to be broke to ride or drive ? Do you sell them? And what registry are they registered in? Just curious really.smoothmule said:Thanks so much. He's really maturing into a nice colt.
Here is a more recent pic of him but he's even nicer than this now.

And in July, we had our last pony for the year by our stallion. Her name is KitKat (Kitty). She's just a doll. She didn't get the champagne gene like Layla and Dusty did but she's definitely homozygous appaloosa. Her color is brown/silver dapple/snowcap appaloosa. Quite a mouthful for a little filly.
Here is Kitty

Thanks for sharing, its very interesting!smoothmule said:Thanks for asking. They make great driving ponies. I'm working with one of my ponies now. Sis is 3 yrs old, a registered MFT pony and she's exactly 12 hands. My goal is a 12 to 13 hand pony for kids but I like that height myself for driving and I have friends who prefer a 13 hand pony that are smaller adults. All of my ponies that are Champagne colored are registered with the International Champagne Horse Registry. The gaited ponies are eligible for the AGPR, MFT Pony registry etc. My Arabian pony is registered Half Arabian, ICHR and APRA. I am thinking I'll keep Layla (my half Arabian pony) to breed to an approved sport pony stallion for a sport pony. I'd love to get involved with some pony clubs.
The gaited ponies are tall enough for kids to join family in trail rides that have gaited horses. I had a lot of interest in the gaited ponies for that reason. I also plan to show my MFT pony when we're a little further along in training. The MFTHBA is in Ava, only an hour and a half away so there are lots of small shows in the area and the world show isn't far from home.
Generally, they sell before they're old enough to train. Dusty, the classic champagne Walkaloosa colt, was sold by the time he was 2 weeks old and will go to Washington state when he's 5 months and fully weaned.
Beautiful! I'm lurking around here~from BYC, got hooked on checking things out here after being here only one night. I have wanted a horse all my life. Now I know it won't happen, I'm getting too old and fragile with health problems. I will just come on here and admire. Can't say I didn't have my fair share of riding..when ever I could when I was younger. Loved it. This baby is a beauty!smoothmule said:Another Champagne colt!!
This time, the dam is my solid black Missouri Foxtrotter mare and this time we got a Classic Champagne Appaloosa colt! WOW
