Dusty is filling out, here's a fairly recent picture but he's already more filled out than he is here. I do think we're going to see some gait with this colt.

Here he is with his half Arabian sister, Layla.

:D Thanks so much. He's really maturing into a nice colt.
Here is a more recent pic of him but he's even nicer than this now.

And in July, we had our last pony for the year by our stallion. Her name is KitKat (Kitty). She's just a doll. She didn't get the champagne gene like Layla and Dusty did but she's definitely homozygous appaloosa. Her color is brown/silver dapple/snowcap appaloosa. Quite a mouthful for a little filly.

Here is Kitty

Beautiful! If you dont mind me asking, what do you breed these ponies for? Like, are they going to be broke to ride or drive ? Do you sell them? And what registry are they registered in? Just curious really. :)

Thanks for asking. They make great driving ponies. I'm working with one of my ponies now. Sis is 3 yrs old, a registered MFT pony and she's exactly 12 hands. My goal is a 12 to 13 hand pony for kids but I like that height myself for driving and I have friends who prefer a 13 hand pony that are smaller adults. All of my ponies that are Champagne colored are registered with the International Champagne Horse Registry. The gaited ponies are eligible for the AGPR, MFT Pony registry etc. My Arabian pony is registered Half Arabian, ICHR and APRA. I am thinking I'll keep Layla (my half Arabian pony) to breed to an approved sport pony stallion for a sport pony. I'd love to get involved with some pony clubs.

The gaited ponies are tall enough for kids to join family in trail rides that have gaited horses. I had a lot of interest in the gaited ponies for that reason. I also plan to show my MFT pony when we're a little further along in training. The MFTHBA is in Ava, only an hour and a half away so there are lots of small shows in the area and the world show isn't far from home.

Generally, they sell before they're old enough to train. Dusty, the classic champagne Walkaloosa colt, was sold by the time he was 2 weeks old and will go to Washington state when he's 5 months and fully weaned.

I thought I'd share a fairly recent photo of Layla. I had only had gaited horses, mules and ponies before but I'm really loving this filly.

Her color is Sable Champagne, meaning she has a base color of seal brown with a single Champagne gene. She is homozygous for black and is likely homozygous for the agouti gene (seal brown agouti that is ). This filly will mature 12.2 to 13 hands and will be a beautiful driving pony and sport pony broodmare. Bred to a TB, the foal will have very similar breeding to the famous Theodore (Teddy) O'Connor.
I think a foal from that cross, back to another smallish TB would be the exact same breeding as Teddy was. The trick is keeping the height in pony range but my 10.2 hand stallion really helps in that department.

:th Beautiful! I'm lurking around here~from BYC, got hooked on checking things out here after being here only one night. I have wanted a horse all my life. Now I know it won't happen, I'm getting too old and fragile with health problems. I will just come on here and admire. Can't say I didn't have my fair share of riding..when ever I could when I was younger. Loved it. This baby is a beauty!
Thanks for sharing pics.
