I have 2 female PBP's about a year old each. This summer they were kept with my boar----he's much younger, but was "doing his thing" for the 3 months they were together. I was thinking they may have gotten pregnant in June or July, and they've been separated since last month---well, I didn't want them becoming pregnant if they weren't (that late in the year) and if they were prego, I was afraid they would eat each other's babies. Anyway, nothing seems to be happening other than bigger nipples and a little bigger bellies----so are they prego or not? I will take pics. when I get home this evening and post them-----hopefully someone can tell if I should expect piglets or not. I'm kind of hoping they're not pregnant, as this isn't the best time of year for babies----weather or sale-wise.

I'm also wondering if the housing I've furnished is adequate for when the piglets come----IF they come. I'll post pics. fo those tonight also.

Well, if they were bred July 31 they'd be due Nov. 22nd. Really all you can do is wait and see!

Well, here are pics. of the girls and their houses-----any advice is very welcome. And yes, I know they are really muddy-----it rained here almost nonstop for 4 days!

Angel earlier this summer----not a very good pic., but the only one of her from the side (she was always trying to come up to see what was in my hand).

Now here are the houses-----which have since had very thick rubber flaps added to the entrances and will each have 6-7 bales of straw stacked around them once it gets a little colder (maybe even this weekend).

If they're not pregnant (or if you think they aren't), do you think they are too fat? When I got Angel at 7 mos. old, the previous owner's were giving her 1/2 cup of food 2 times a day. I originally increased this to 1 cup 2 times a day and since it's gotten colder (40 degrees at night) I increased it to 1 1/2 cups of mini pig food and 1/4 cup of cracked corn 2 times a day. If any of you think this is way too much, please let me know-----they don't really seem fat to me.

Feel her tummy and listen with a stethoscope. If you hear more than gurgling and one heartbeat, you can be assured you have babies in there. It may be difficult at first, but you will get used to what her tummy sounds like. You can listen to yours to get an idea of what tummy sounds sound like. And you can listen closer to the back legs since that is where the uterus is. It's easier when the pig is lying down on her side. Marylin looks PG to me, but I'm not an expert. Angel... hard to tell.
