We do not band. We do cut. We cut Nigerians generally at 10 weeks. Minis 8-10 weeks and Standards 8 weeks. We do not do it any earlier as the urethra needs to grow. Wethering too young can set them up for issues with urinary calculi.

The boys were at the vets this weekend to be disbudded. They wanted to wait on the girl, said the buds weren't big enough yet, so she goes back on the 23rd. Our vet recommended banding at 8 weeks or cutting at 10 weeks. Not sure which direction we are going to go yet. Both boys are over 10 lbs but the girl is at 6 lbs. I think we are going to start pulling the boys off of mom at night and letting the girl stay on. Give her a chance to catch up.
