We fed the baby all through the night, she is alert, active and bright-eyed. Took her back down to see mama this morning and she nursed on the good teat. We applied warm compresses to the side with mastitis and still no change. We took our baby back home with us so we could feed her in another 3 hrs. She’s taking about 4 oz at a time. Game Plan: took baby back to mama so she can get whatever the ewe can give her and we are going to supplement with bottles 3 x a day. If the lamb starts digressing, we will change plans. Meet Hershey:)

Pretty little thing.
She is lucky that you took such good care of her.

Glad to hear that your lamb is doing well. 'Hard bag' is when there's fibrosis in the teat(s) due to mastitis in an previous year so the milk can't come down. I had this is my last ewe to lamb a couple of years back....so ended up bottle feeding for what seemed like an eternity.

So lamb is saved and ewe has had 'a good innings' if she is 11.

Good result.

Hershey update... things are going well. We are still feeding her a bottle 3x a day and she’s drinking between 16-18 oz a day plus what she gets from her mom. She is very alert and growing like a weed. She is always very happy to see us!
