Wind used to be used on every ranch to work the well pump. The windmills were small, repairable, and did their job well. You can also use solar panes in the well pump too. I have a fried who had to do that in Kennedy Meadows near Bishop CA because that entire area has NO ELECTRIC power. People have to use either generators or solar. Of course, hardly anyone lives there year round.

Wind mills and water mills have been in use for thousands of years. Power is still generated by "water mills" aka water pwered turbines in the various large dams. The main problems with "green energy" is tht it is more expensive, and people jumped into it before knowing enough about how to dispose of the giant windmill blades and solar panels which can't be recycled economically. :(
They are also ugly.
And the giant turbines kill wildlife.

Speaking of off grid, my dad lived in an RV for thirty years. He spent his winters parked near the Salton Sea, place called The Slabs. He said the druggies ruined it, it used to be a nice community of modest means people.

He spent his summers parked in various campgrounds in New Mexico and Colorado. Since he was a senior and a veteran he got reduced rates. He'd park for two weeks, move on to the next one. He'd use a small solar panel to help keep his batteries charged up.

Yeah I got the crazy nutzo wind too. Was going to take my truck to the shop tomorrow, cancelled due to storm rolling in tonight and all day tomorrow. We don’t want to be on the road pulling a 30’ gooseneck trailer with a truck on it. Next Saturday. This sucks.

Ran out of feed, can’t put a thousand pound super bag of feed in my tiny little Hyundai. I bought bagged feed, 8 bags, that’s only 400 pounds, and I could feel my poor little car wallowing on the road on the way back. I guess I can’t pack grossly obese people in my car either. LOL I don’t know what the weight load is, but my guess is 400 pounds of feed plus my 138 pounds and it’s overloaded.

Can’t take truck tomorrow, will be raining and storming all day. Sister in law doesn’t want to be pulling a 30’ trailer with truck loaded on it and I don’t blame her. Maybe next Saturday. I’m starting to get frustrated.
